If you could eat anything?

DH and DC are away for a few days this week to visit family. I am so excited to be able to eat what I like for a few nights without thinking about who will eat what etc.

If you were home alone what would you have for dinner?

I wouldn't want to waste my precious alone time cooking so I'd go crusty bread, loads of butter and cheese, various pickles/chutneys and a massive glass of wine 🤤

Maddy70 · 28/05/2023 14:06

Cheese biscuits and port

AuntieDolly · 28/05/2023 14:07

Salmon, new potatoes and asparagus

MummyInTheNecropolis · 28/05/2023 14:19

I’d roast a small chicken and have it with all the trimmings (bought pre-prepared so can just chuck in the oven) on day one, then have the leftovers the next couple of days with salad, crusty bread, pickles etc.

PissPotPourri · 28/05/2023 14:22

Spicy homemade curry. Because I’m the only one in the family who loves spice and always have to cook one without chilli.

GoGoJasonWaterfalls · 28/05/2023 14:26

Dominos every time because DH hates it. Or lots of picky bits (meats, cheeses, olives, hummus, bread etc...)

Suprima · 28/05/2023 14:28

I always get a ‘nice’ supermarket pizza when I am home alone. Deliveroo something the second night- usually sushi or chicken.

I absolutely hate cooking for one. I also hate housework, so minimal dishes and cleaning required.

When Dh and dc are away, I often have a Waitrose curry with naan because they’re quite nice for a ready meal curry (and the petrol station closest to us sells them because shop is a Little Waitrose).

This time of year, I’d be inclined to have pan fried fish or prawns/scallops with garlic butter, crusty bread, aioli and salad or asparagus.

HerodAntipasti · 28/05/2023 14:34

Peanut butter and jam sandwich, chocolate milk.

TellKingTutIWantMyMummy · 28/05/2023 14:35

Nachos.

ODFOx · 28/05/2023 14:46

This week? Asparagus is still in season so I'd eat that for every meal.
Good bread, good cheese, eggs.
Simple but tasty food. Probably a pot of celeriac soup to go with the cheese as DH isn't keen so I rarely bother when he's here.

MakeYourself · 28/05/2023 14:48

I'd get some pitta, dips, cheeses, olives, nice tomatoes 🙌

RabbitsRock · 28/05/2023 14:51

Ooh how to choose? Probably a Chinese delivered as I love it but DH isn’t really a fan. Something like duck in plum sauce with egg fried rice & some of those prawn toasts. Yummy!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 28/05/2023 14:54

Nachos or Buffalo Wings.

MidnightMeltdown · 28/05/2023 14:57

Chinese takeaway

Missingmyusername · 28/05/2023 15:01

Salad, nachos, vegan salsa, pot salad, bread, wine, vegan sausage rolls and sorbets because DH steals my food 😂

SageRosemary · 28/05/2023 15:41

Omelette
Scrambled eggs with chives or scallions
Chicken, onion, mayo on brown soda bread
Stir-fry
Salmon
Soup whichever way you like it
Chess with crackers and grapes - cheddar, Cashel Blue or Brie
Mini quiche from M&S

lljkk · 28/05/2023 15:41

Baked beans & Doritos.
Lots of mayo on Romaine lettuce with tuna or prawns.

JadeSeahorse · 28/05/2023 15:47

Fish and chips from the chippie followed by loads of cake and chocolate. (Then I'd be on the Fast 800 diet for a week 😂)
