Only person we know is the host as it’s a friend from ballet! All the other mum’s know eachother (assuming from school) and the host is too busy to chat! Help me get through the next 3 (yes 3) hours please! (I only have 20% battery too!) 😳

Are there any pets you can play with? I'm always delighted when I see a dog at these things

HappiDaze · 28/05/2023 13:44

Just take a seat and you'll soon start chatting to someone

BCBird · 28/05/2023 13:44

Oh no. I would see if hosp needs any help.

SummerCyclist98 · 28/05/2023 13:44

Do you have to stay? I used to leave go for a walk enjoy sunshine

Tilllly · 28/05/2023 13:44

Break out into a song and dance routine?

Bringonthechange · 28/05/2023 13:44

No pets! Just about 20 screaming children on a bouncy castle!! We’ve already had face paint and glitter tattoos!

I'm clock watching now!

Typo,host not local hosp.

FatAgainItsLettuceTime · 28/05/2023 13:45

Go say hello and talk to them, then you'll know them for next time.

Bringonthechange · 28/05/2023 13:45

I’ve been say here for 45 mins and no one is chatting know besides a brief hello with the host.

DD is too young to be left, she keeps checking to see I’m still sat here!

Just sit next to a group of the mums and you'll get chatting to one of them

Bringonthechange · 28/05/2023 13:46

They’re not people I’m likely to see again as their children at not at the same school! We only know the party girl though ballet.

Are there any tea or coffee making facilities?? Ask the mums nearest to you if anyone wants a cup of tea and if lots say yes then ask for their help

SummerCyclist98 · 28/05/2023 13:47

It’s like a rite of passage I’m so so glad I’m past that stage now. Grin and bear it, as an introvert I found them agonising. But the positive is you know where your kids are and can see them 😂I’m at the teens end where I’m mostly a taxi driver

When you say ‘no one is chatting’, do you mean everyone is sitting in silence scrolling through their phones? Or just that they’re chatting to one another? Assuming everyone isn’t stone-faced and silent, I would just say ‘Do you mind if I join you? to anyone I liked the look of.

I went to a party where I knew no one not even the host as don't do school run, sat next to some mums and kept making eye contact hoping to chat to them but they clearly weren't interested 😬

SkiingIsHeaven · 28/05/2023 14:06

Why don't you go and speak to one of them? Why do they have to make the first move? Someone else there might feel the same as you. Looking at your phone will put them off coming to speak to you.

Bringonthechange · 28/05/2023 14:40

I had a chat to one of the other mum’s for a while and then the lady from the glitter tattoo table persuaded me to have one 😂
