Stockholm - next week

Visiting Stockholm Thursday- Sunday next week (marathon on Saturday).

Have booked Vasa museum but interested in any recommendations from recent visits/residents, especially for food/drink/places to wander and sit.

Will be up for doing less walking than our normal city breaks due to marathon!

Gamala Stan is nice for a wander - we ate at a restaurant with a tree - sorry can't remember the name!
It's all very walkable.

We’re in Stockholm at the moment and we visit quite often as we have a little home here.

When you go to Vasa there is a short film you can watch with the story of the ship, theres also a ship tour in English (wait on the left side of the ship as you face it when you enter).

If you fancy a walking tour the free one done by vikingwalkingtour.com is very good.

Hermans in Sodermalm is a really really good vegan buffet. Under Kastanjen in Gamla stan is nice and reasonably priced, this has a tree in the little outside eating area @hopeishere . McDonalds is expensive and the same menu really as the UK, a mcplant meal is around £11. If you’re travelling with meat eating children most places will have chips/mashed potato with meatballs if they’re fussy eaters.

For a really nice meal the evening cruise with dinner run by stromma is very good, the food we had was very nice as was the wine.

If you want coffee on the go I would go to Pressbyran (like a co-op, they’re everywhere) rather than espresso house (like starbucks).

It’s a small city and the metro and bussed are very very good and clean, its very walkable.
