Can you really leave them outside all the time? Do they not go slimy?
Would you recommend one?
Trying to have a revamp of our small patio. I've ordered a garden sofa.

Thinking about what else I may need/want.

Same here - garden Center one was £125!!!! Errrr no not if it’s going to go gross. And it was small. Given I spent £400 on outdoor sofa (cheapest I could find by about a grand 😄) I was looking more £30-£50 for a rug 😁

I bought one last year the plastic sort and its been out all year

Just about to spring clean the area and all it needs is a sweep and equivalent of mopping

No slimyness at all

BringItOnxxx · 28/05/2023 08:16

Yes they're great! Mine isn't slimy after several years. Ideally bring it in in winter though, bit generally they are really durable. They look great IMHO.

Whatthediddlyfeck · 28/05/2023 08:17

We’re on the third year of ours, it was about £25 from B&M or the range, can’t remember which, but I’ve only ever swept over it and there’s no slime or gunk

sunisbetterthanrain · 28/05/2023 08:17

We have an Aldi one and it's lasted really well - cheap as chips! It does blow away a bit in the wind though, we roll it up when not using

Went to Lidl this week and they were flying off the shelves.

Flying carpets?
I might get one of those.

Bargellobitch · 28/05/2023 09:04

We just got one a few weeks ago so I can't say about them going slimy. I plan on bringing it in over winter. Ours was £18 from dunelm and is really nice. Way cheaper than some I'd seen. I feel its a good price to start with as if it crap and goes gross it's fine. I'm assuming i can clean it with a scrubbing brush and flash to get in the open weave and keep it nice.

But it really brightens up the place and is nice for bare feet.

Backtothegym · 28/05/2023 09:07

Ours is great, we put it away for late autumn, winter, and early spring. And once the patio gets its annual clean we shove it out again. No slimeyness at all.

no issues with it getting wet, but if it’s going to be heavy rain for several days I roll it up and shove it away. Same as the outdoor cushions really.

Oldraver · 28/05/2023 11:40

So I've just been spring cleaning the patio, and I did jet wash the rug in the end

No slimyness at all just a little dirt and green stuff that got caught in the weave, no more to be expected really

BigShoutyRaven · 28/05/2023 12:50

Redebs 😁

What I meant was the women behind me had two, and then there was one on every conveyor I walked past. I was intrigued so got a leaflet to see what they actually were.

snooterfloofer · 28/05/2023 12:53

I've just bought a huge one from B&Q which was £25 but then there's 20% off at the minute too. My parents have one and it looks great

Glitterbiscuits · 29/05/2023 07:45

I've ordered one!

I'd better jet wash the patio in readiness.

Iv got one it's just a B and M one and it's fantastic. It's held it's colour and hasn't gone gross at all! It's been outside over a year now.

What is the need for an outdoor rug. Asking because I find it puzzling?

Aesthetics

snooterfloofer · 29/05/2023 09:08

Yes they just look nice. I live in a terrace and the back yard is just a square of stone paving slabs so it breaks the paving up a bit to have a big corner of jazzy rug!

I have horrible 3ft x 2ft concrete slabs that has an uneven side. The rug covers this

And it looks pretty

Wyndam · 02/06/2023 21:05

I had one in our back yard covering up stains on the patio from the previous tenants. The rug has been out there for about 2 years now and the plastic has started to degrade and flake off. I wouldn't suggest them anymore, its a microplastic nightmare.
