Anyone else watching the Tina Turner tribute programme? She was such a big part of my 20s . She was such an amazing singer and talked about domestic violence which made it easier for women to speak up .I saw her in concert in the late 80s in Sydney and her energy was spine tingling!

She was a superstar. I actually struggle to picture her as an elderly woman of 83. Her music and energy will live on for many years. Simply the Best!

Yes just watched it and felt sad she is no longer with us, brilliant performer...powerhouse of a woman.
Peace Tina .

She was "simply the best"

A powerful woman who escaped an awful life.

Glad she found happiness in her later years with her husband

LouLou198 · 27/05/2023 23:16

Yes I'm way watching. Amazing lady who always looked fabulous!

mysonsmother82 · 27/05/2023 23:18

I plan to watch.. such an inspiring woman and amazing talent. I'm pleased she found happiness and she will never be forgotten.
I've never been affected before by a celebrity death but it really got to me when I heard. Simply the best!

DuckDuckNo · 27/05/2023 23:22

I saw her live in 2009 or 2010 and she was amazing. Danced and sang with way more energy than the younger backup dancers, she was a force of nature. I was surprised to hear she died, just like I was surprised to hear about David Bowie's death back in the day - some superstars just seem eternal.

An absolute inspiration, along with massive talent

She is a shining example of what can happen when you walk away and turn your back on an abuser then go for it with all you have

Esjolaol1973 · 28/05/2023 00:02

I saw her in 1989 and was amazed at her energy ..she was definitely late 50s then . As a female she really was a lady who spoke up for other women struggling.q

Power and glamour and fun and style and music. Loved her.

Fooksticks · 28/05/2023 00:07

She always seemed so calm, even a bit quiet in interviews but l admired the strength her quietness seemed to bring.

She wasn't one of those show-off type celebrity.

I was really sad to hear of her passing.

Appalonia · 28/05/2023 00:09

I just watched the documentary about her on Sky Arts, the details of some of the abuse she suffered was truly shocking. I'm so glad she found the strength to finally leave ( she said it was because of Buddhism ) and although she wrote her book to put it all behind her, it helped so many other women talk about it too. It was also very moving that she finally found love, and with a much younger man! RIP Tina.x

She was born 1939 (same year as my dad) so would have been 50 in 1989. I remember watching her on tv sing proud mary at her 2009 concert and thinking how amazing she was for 70!

I was probably so young and didn’t appreciate her age 🤦‍♀️I accept I was wrong with her age . She was though Truly Amazing.
