Holiday in Ireland

We’re going to Ireland in a couple of weeks, for a week, leading up to a family get together. But can’t decide where to go or how to plan it! Has anyone been over in recent years and ‘played it by ear’? Just wondering if we really need to book accommodation in advance? Any helpful tips on great places to go most welcome!
Thinking about trying the north of Ireland for the first time, and touring around.

Hotel prices have gone mental

Yes book in advance, Irish cities are largely much smaller than U.K. cities and you might not be spoilt for choice!

Book way in advance, prices are mental. I'm going to Dublin next weekend and it is £££££

Well what kind of holiday-vibe are you after?

You’ll have a totally different experience doing Belfast and the North Coast compared to somewhere like the Wild Atlantic Way or the Ring of Kerry.

I'd agree with the posters above. Accommodation is expensive in Ireland, Dublin in particular.
What would you like to see? Scenery, culture, castles? There are some amazing beaches too.
