Tube help please! I need to get from Euston or Euston Square to Kensington High Street tomorrow, but when I use route planners they all seem to give me different suggestions. What’s the easiest route please?

From Euston station southbound Victoria line to Victoria... change onto circle line westbound to South Kensington

Iwouldlikesomecake · 27/05/2023 17:57

I’d probably go Euston Square to Edgware Road and change there. That way it’s only one change and it’s not going into main central tourist/shopper territory.

happyinherts · 27/05/2023 17:58

Yes, to Edgware Road - Hammersmith and City Line, change to District Line to Kensington High St

Yeah I'd do that too. I avoid changing tube at Victoria like the plague.

LlynTegid · 27/05/2023 18:16

I'd do the route via Edgware Road, all you probably have to do is walk across a platform to an adjacent train.

Another vote for this route.

Thanks people.
what’s confusing is that both stations are on circle line, is that right? But you can’t go directly between them?

Double check on tfl there are no line closures! There’s a page on tfl that shows all weekend closures

This because the circle line no longer go in a complete circle continuously. There is a little gap in the circle between Paddington and Edgware Road and the circle line trains now lurch off to Hammersmith from Paddington.
The circle line pub crawl is no longer possible in it's original format.

TheLittleFriend · 27/05/2023 19:10

Ah I see. That makes sense, thank you

Download the tube map- it will give you the quickest route. This is showing as now Euston-Victoria (blue line) Change here for circle line (yellow line) This app is a game changer for me! No more sitting on the underground lost 😂

Quickest routes aren’t always easiest though. If I need to get from Hammersmith to Liverpool St in rush hour I’ll normally go for the slightly longer circle line route just because it’s quieter.

samqueens · 27/05/2023 20:32

Another vote for the edgware road route - it will probably be quieter, keeps you somewhat out of the museum crowds a little bit (as they tend to swarm south Ken), and I absolutely agree with PP - the new interchange at Victoria, is stupidly long especially traveling westbound - avoid!

happyinherts · 27/05/2023 20:46

@Mumofspurs The OP isn't going from Euston. She's going from Euston Square. That's on a different line.

yma123 · 27/05/2023 20:47

I'd download city mapper if I was you, it's a life changer and has never sent me the wrong way!

If you read her post again she says she needs to get from Euston or Euston Square

happyinherts · 27/05/2023 20:51

Euston Square so much quicker and easier though.

MRex · 27/05/2023 21:02

27 bus is easiest; not the fastest but direct and minimal walking.

Fastest is Victoria line, but avoid changing at Victoria station if you aren't very comfortable with the tube and crowds plus travelling outside rush hour.

People unaccustomed with the tube can get confused at the Edgware Road interchange, that route is ok but allow a little time to check your platform.

ZombieKettle · 27/05/2023 21:03

I do this route sometimes. Get Hammersmith and City to Edgware Road. Then cross platform at Edgeware Road to High Street Kensington. Really easy and quick.
