I posted before about how stressed I am.
Dh fired/bc diagnosis/ work changing priorities/dds refusing school.
Well next week is half term and I'm away for work doing some training for the whole week I'm soo excited!!
No cooking/cleaning/ dog walking/ arguing with dd about college.
I'm looking forward to nice hotel room/ cooked breakfasts and dinners out with colleagues. With some training in-between. Only the train strike to throw a spanner in the works but if its impossible to get home I could stay till Sunday!

Does anyone else love worktrips?

I'm off to a conference in London late June with an overnight stay and cannot wait. A hotel room to myself, a couple of hours of train travel where I can have my music on and read my book, possibly the chance to look in a couple of shops, restaurants and cafes.

I had a fairly hellish one this week (minding a Minister) but have to get to 2 morning meetings next week (Thursday and Friday in same city) so I'll have an afternoon off on Thursday- I'll probably find someone to meet but then nice quiet dinner and a long beautifying shower/facial/body works followed by glass of wine and a movie. And a relaxed jaunt back to airport on afternoon 2. And I know the stuff at both meetings so happy to wing it.

Then a relaxed travel day (on bank holiday Mon) to Paris, where I'll have the evenings to wander and get a nice dinner. Then after a long sleep, get going for a "long day but I don't have to speak" conference on the Tuesday. Just be seen to have attended.

I plan to bring nice snacks, but nice wine and fully enjoy both.

I had one on a Friday a few weeks ago - stayed till Sunday, moved into a cheaper city centre rather than business district hotel, had a lovely mini-break!

I love an overnight(s) work trip for all the reasons people have said. Not that frequent in my job, but not unknown.

The only overnight work trips I go on these days involve travelling with 90 11/12 year olds!! Not so much fun 🤣 Used to have great work trips abroad in gorgeous hotels in previous career - how I miss that !
