I did. I liked it. But harrowing in places though, it's not call the midwife.

I’m a couple of episodes in. Good so far. Darker than I’d expected.

QueSyrahSyrah · 26/05/2023 22:09

I enjoyed it, I hope they make more in fact, there's lots of threads left to be pulled.

shelbabab · 26/05/2023 22:10

It started off good but last few episodes I thought it had got a bit boring. The ending wasn't great but overall I liked it and still watchable.

Ooh what I will say though is that there was a lot going on for a six part series. It feels a bit rushed especially to start with.

They could have dropped a storyline or two (probably three) and spent more time on fleshing the others out more fully.

Definitely this. And the final storyline (Arty) I really thought didn't need to be there and ruined things. It would have been much better without as I thought it felt rushed and underdeveloped.

I only watched the first 2. It wasn't for me (but I was hoping for a nice bit of easy viewing - like Call the Midwife).

Thanks for the reviews
I was going to start thinking about watching it but now I realise I can’t be arsed.
Which was my original thought.
Always go with you gut

I’ve watched it all . It was ok . I thought it would have focused more on the real conditions that migrants were faced with when they arrived in oz. It was based more on the story lines of purely fictional characters which as we all no in a soap are always over dramatic . I still enjoyed it .

MaydinEssex · 27/05/2023 00:07

I've watched all the episodes, I enjoyed it, I'd like to see another season or more.

AddieLoggins2 · 27/05/2023 00:10

I thought it was a bit of a missed opportunity. Almost all the stories were just rehashes of things we've seen on soaps a million times over.

It would have been nice if the series could have been a bit more about stories based on challenges faced in that unique situation.

I agree, got a bit silly towards the end but worth watching.

This is what I thought.
I'd been hoping for a bit of 'social history' on the normal people who took up the offer and the challenges they faced and the way things had worked out for them. This seemed to just be creating high drama which could have been set anywhere really.

I've watched 6 episodes so far and enjoyed it-but agree its a bit too many story lines going on at once. DH has a relative that emigrated on the £10 scheme, so I'd like to see how real their experience was to the show.
