Thyroid issues and refusal to treat properly

Has anyone experienced this? I've been on 75mg of Levothyroxine (up from 50mg) for three months and have just got my latest blood result. TSH is still well above range and T4 borderline. I feel like crap but I've just been told to continue as I am. I can't get to speak to anyone until after the bank holiday.

Has anyone managed to successfully convince their GP to increase?

Yes but I had a lovely GP

I can't actually get to talk to one. I just got this by text.

Yes but I had to give it more than 3months. It needs a chance to settle. Ask for another blood test in 8 weeks. Then if still very high, then would be very strange for GP not to increase

@yepgoingforarun did you get increased after that? What were your results like?

It would help if I could actually have a discussion with a human.

Sorry I missed - have they increased since you were started on levo?

have you been on levo for 3 months or 75 for 3 months?

either way 3 months is not long enough for levo to settle.

I started on 50, tested 3 months later. Result was worse so increased to 75. Just had another test after 3 months and TSH is slightly lower (still 9.2, range is 0.35 - 5.50) and T4 hasn't increased at all.

I've been battling since the birth of youngest when my thyroid packed up. After over 20 years when I have been under medicated my GP retired and the new GP let me have a higher dose. I was under medical through the first lockdown and could not get another blood test. I put on 4 stones and I felt crap, constipated, hair loss, dry eyes and skin, totally exhausted all the time. Once I got on a higher dose I've gradually started to lose weight and feel better but still not good.

They will most likely make you wait for 4 months then retest.

I have mine tested every 3 months and they're always putting it up.

At the moment I'm on 75 one day 100 the next and so on. The Dr suggested putting it up to 100 every day but I said let's wait and see what the next blood test throws up, as at one point I was over medicated and had terrible heart palpitations.

See if you can get a telephone consultation?

I emailed them and actually got a response. Very unexpected on a Friday evening! They have prescribed my 100mg to be taken on Saturday and Sunday only. 75mg the rest of the weeks. It's something I suppose.
