I have been suffering from daily digestive issues for some time.
My gastroenterologist referred me for a SeHCAT scan to test for bile acid malabsorption.
I received an appointment for April ‘22 but it clashed with a gynae op I was having so I contacted the department to let them know and they said they would send me another. I waited 3 months and heard nothing so chased it up only to be told there was a shortage of some radioactive substance they use but I would hear from them soon.
I heard nothing, I rang and enquired in September and again in December to be told the same thing, that Imwoild get an appointment as soon as one became available.
The new year came and I had still not received an appointment so chased again, around a month ago, they told me my referral had been returned to the gastroenterologist. I said this was news to me, she said she would find out what had happened.
I received a call on Tuesday to be told that my gastroenterologist had taken me off the waiting list - wtf!?
I’m so upset and annoyed. I haven’t seen my gastro since last September, when I spoke with him he was aware that I was still awaiting the scan and nothing more was spoken about it. No one from the department has contacted me regarding this. I have left 2 voicemail messages and have had no reply.
A whole year I have been left waiting, assuming I am still on the waiting list and now I will have to make an appointment with the gastro and see if he will re refer me and start all over again.
I am so upset. I am still suffering from daily gut issues which are making me so low and nothing I try is helping ease it.
What can I do about this? Should I contact PALS?
