House spiders - more at night?

Has anyone else noticed they get more house spiders in the evening/night time than during the day? Is there a reason for this or is it just coincidence?

Had a huge fucker in my bedroom last night and Dh is away. Managed to sleep in the room and got my cleaner to have a good look and hoover this morning but no sign of it. I always feel a bit safer in the daytime for some reason.

Is it likely to make a reappearance tonight or would it have scuttled off?

I have liberally sprayed the room with anti spider spray plus water with peppermint oil in!

Probably buggered off by now. Try not to have any piles of stuff on the floor or against walls as that's what they like. I have an ottoman with a pile of clothes on it that I once found one in. I was so traumatised that I've kept up with the ironing ever since.

Safer? Spiders won’t hurt you (if you’re in the UK?). We really need them.

Spiders do come out at night more frequently than the daytime because most of the species are nocturnal. It's the best time for them to hunt for food (flies) and avoid predators.
