Does anyone remember when Waitrose used to give out free drinks?

I can't believe how much times have changed. I was never rich enough to regularly shop at Waitrose, but I had a waitrose card so I'd get my free morning coffee, and sometimes I'd buy a jam doughnut. 🙂

There's nothing free now....

Waitrose still do free coffee if you bring your own cup and buy something else at the same time.

John Lewis used to as well.

Waitrose brought back the free coffee! You just have to remember your cup.

yes free coffee or tea but bring your own cup and you have to buy something else could be a single banana!

I didn't know it was back! I used to get one every day at the one near my station and have it on the way to work.

Ours used to do wine tasting every Saturday afternoon.

I really miss that.

I use to work at both John Lewis and Waitrose, and all staff hated those free drinks. Our Waitrose went from selling about 20 hot drinks a day to giving away about 400. There was a celebration at John Lewis when we scrapped the 'free coffee and cake' scheme. It got out of hand when Martin Lewis highlighted it. At one point over 2 million people signed up and got the vouchers. Our cafe had huge queues of people who only came in for the freebies and then left. Lots of crazy customers "I don't like cake, can I get a sandwich instead" or angry people whose vouchers had expired but "only by a few day". I was constantly told I was disgusting and that they were never coming back. 😁
