Standards slipping in M&S

I haven't had a coffee in an M&S cafe for years and can't believe my flat white was served in a little earthenware mug- no saucer!!

Did you call the coffee police?

My local M&S now has self service checkouts. I do bit like this at all! I'm spending money on clothes not buying a pint of milk

A lady in my local M&S keeps dropping her aitches.

Yes mine too. I have used them when there is a big queue at the staffed checkouts.

People keep using pronouns in M&S; it's not fair.

Same here. I was really shocked that mine had no manned tills. I thought M&S would hold out until the last. The upstairs were no cash as well.

I don't like how the cafe at my local one closes at 5 instead of 7. I used to go for a coffee after work to have 20 minutes of me time before heading home!

To clarify the cafe used to close at 7 as the shop is open until 8. The shop is still open until 8 but the cafe now closes at 5.

Appalling. I shall take myself to John Lewis instead.

It started going downhill when they stopped giving you a tiny biscuit with your coffee. The glasses were never clean either but full of dishwasher gritty stuff.

The coffee in John Lewis is consistently poor. It's so weak! It upsets me every time I go there!

I like John Lewis coffee and am over the moon that they’ve started doing the cheese and tomato scones again

The queues at the good tills have been terrible. I get most of my 92 year olds shopping with mine but she likes to choose a few things herself at m and s. Last time I was in with her she had to stand ages so I complained and they opened up another till. I think they had been taking their customers for granted and trying to force people onto the self service tills. Fair enough if you only have a few items but it shouldn't be compulsory. Where I live a new Aldi has just opened right next to them and a few of us have noticed that m and s now open a new check out till if there's a few waiting. Aldi always does this. It's ridiculous that before Aldi came they 'never had the staff' to do this. It costs far more at m and s with poorer service. The competion right next door has woken them up and will do them good.

I miss the little biscuit.

Much prefer a flat white in a mug. Basically prefer most things in mugs - saucers just get in the way. But it has to be a nice mug with a non annoying handle.

I only came on to blame Aiden too

Same, and saucers get slopped in. It’s easier not to spill from a mug.

Is Aiden the big fan of steak cut chips ?

It was Aiden's fault standards have slipped and that steak-cut chips were not recommended. Aiden distracts the manager from properly patrolling the aisles ensuring appropriate sides are promoted.
