Council Tax Advice

My husband moved out in 2019. Despite me asking repeatedly he hasn't ever changed his address. His wage slip gets delivered here. His car and driver's license as well as his bank are registered here.

I have now received a letter about council tax as I claim a single person discount. They are saying that they believe my husband still lives here due to credit searches.

I have contacted my husband and he has just got angry with me. It turns out that his new partner has not declared that he lives there.

I am going to provide his forwarding address.

Could anyone tell me if this would be enough to prove that he doesn't live here and that he has been lazy about updating his details?

Hi there I’ve had the same letter sent to me saying they believe my daughters dad is living with me etc, I’ve had to ring them and tell them he doesn’t he lives in a bed sit and his post is registered at his mums address, they said they are going to do some further investigating and take it from there, what was your outcome? I’m stressing and I’m so anxious about this

Yes that should be enough OP and also return EVERY single bit of mail you receive for him as 'not known at this address'.

Or open the letters (ignore anyone who says it's illegal), contact the senders and tell them his new address.

Why didn't you contact any of those places and tell them he isn't at your address? You let it go on for years, it's strange.
