I can "think" myself out of hiccups - what works for you?

Years ago a bloke at work said he could cure my hiccups (or hiccoughs if you like). He held out a £20 note and said I could have it if I did one more hiccup. Of course, I didn't so I didn't get the 20 quid! Anyway, DD gets really prolonged hiccups sometimes so I tried it on her and it works. Sometimes I just say something like - I'll give you £50 to spend in Urban if you do another one, or if I have something I'll use the physical prop!

Recently I've discovered I can stop myself hiccuping using the same method. My DH has just come back from NY and brought me some Hershey's kisses back from the airport. I've just done the food shop & had a fizzy drink which gave me hiccups - so I thought to myself "if you do another hiccup you can eat 12 Hershey's kisses." Lo and behold hiccups are gone.

I will probably eat 12 anyway, just not all at once.

Anyone else do this? If not what is your ultimate / immediate cure?
