pump bottles - open - stop SO ANNOYING

You know the pumps on handwash and some shower gel? The ones that say Open/Stop with an arrow. About 90% of the time I cannot open them easily. What is the knack? I can sit there for a good 5 minutes trying to open a hand wash before I give up and pour the bottle into the previous bottle.

It's not just you, I've never been able to do those. I just twist it around forever and get nowhere until someone like dh takes it off me and does it.

I also struggle with the calpol push-twist cap though.

Ps don't get me started on opening sippy cups. But maybe that deserves its own thread lol

Yep I'm the same, now when I'm in a shop I have to test that I can open the pump bit before buying... then carefully get it home without accidentally pumping soap everywhere!

Hold the base of the top (the part that comes down over the top part of the bottle IYSWIM), and turn the spout.

Genius. Def going to start trying it in the shop 😅

A trick I learnt (from YouTube lol) is that you need to make sure the actual pump is screwed on tight. This then allows the pump bit to unscrew. It really works!

Good idea!

It seems so hit and miss too - like some you have to push down a bit? Some you kind of have to twist. They are never actually as simple as it implies.
