Shorts in the classroom?

Just wondering if these are a no no for school😬

Plan to wear with flats and a white blouse.

It's hot this week so I believe this to be our summer in my part of the world.

I'm KS2 not that it's necessarily relevant

No

SisSuffragette · 24/05/2023 22:20

I think they're fine

CatMattress · 24/05/2023 22:20

Depends how long they look on you, but I'd veer towards no. Would you wear a skirt the same length?

UsingChangeofName · 24/05/2023 22:23

No

Hercisback · 24/05/2023 22:24

No

Do you have a staff dress code?

I think people might raise an eyebrow if a male teacher wore shorts in the classroom - even tailored ones.

I go for “tea dress” style things on hot days.

tossingpenniesinthepool · 24/05/2023 22:26

I think they're worth trying on - shorts always feel much shorter at the back than the front!

fUNNYfACE36 · 24/05/2023 22:27

No it's unprofessional.

Amdecre · 24/05/2023 22:27

Too short for my school (also in KS2 and a relaxed school I'd say).

Remaker · 24/05/2023 22:27

Depends which part of the world. In Australia it would be yes at many schools, especially primary. My daughter’s (male) English teacher at one of Sydney’s top selective girls schools wears brightly coloured Hawaiian shorts every day in summer. It make absolutely no difference to the quality of his teaching.

jackstini · 24/05/2023 22:28

Primary or secondary?
What length do they come to on you?
Just above knee - ok, mid thigh - probably not

MsCarrieBradshaw · 24/05/2023 22:29

No

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 24/05/2023 22:31

I’m a lecturer and would only wear that length with opaque tights for work (obviously not those lovely summer shorts with heavy tights!).

mastertomsmum · 24/05/2023 22:32

Longer ones like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. They are on trend at the moment and reasonably smart

StillEatingRipeBananas · 24/05/2023 22:33

I volunteered in a primary, lots of staff both male and female wore what I suppose are tailored or chino shorts but they were all knee length. The ones you have posted I feel are too short and the legs might be too wide combined with the length. Sorry.

sunsetoranges · 24/05/2023 22:34

No.

Too short. Plenty of other options.

LubaLuca · 24/05/2023 22:36

There are very few UK workplaces where they would be okay.
