Cat food

I've had elderly cats that needed to be tempted for so long I've lost touch with what's normal. If you have a cat that eats Whiskas pouches, how many do they have a day? A year old, on the large side of average (build, not weight-on the thin side weight wise) very active, outdoor, neutered, wormed. Orange, so therefore slightly insane-not sure if that's relevant....

My older cat who is very food driven has one 80g packet a day and two thirds of a Nutella jar of good quality dried. You need to get a rough idea of weight for how much to feed them, our largeish mog (both build and weight) is 5.5kg, it usually says on the box. This is from our current packet of Sheba select slices!

Oh should add we split the pouch half am/half pm and biscuits are available to graze on throughout the day.

Yep. I wish Orlando would read the box-it would make life so much easier! I have to say, I did a double-take when I saw the word Nutella 🤣

I'm going to make a poster saying "3.5 ONLY!!" And put it where he can see it!

I had a (coincidentally, ginger!) cat who ate masses when he was that age. I just went with it, he was very slim, very active and I assume he was still growing. When he was about 18 months it was like a switch was turned off and he had a 'normal' appetite.

Love the fact he's called Orlando! 😁

My parents have a young average to large size male cat. Out and about hunting a lot. He has dry food readily available and probably on average 2-3 pouches a day of wet food.

Meanwhile I have an older small female cat who barely eats one pouch a day alongside dry food, so I’m always amazed when he just demolishes a pouch and is meowing for seconds!

My cats get 1.5 sachets a day over 3 meals and between 25-50g of dried food. We have a weight problem with two of them so they get less dried. One may be supplementing his diet elsewhere though as he’s still a hefty 7kg…

Obligatory picture of greedy cat. Looking deceptively innocent
