Nosebleed during meeting

Are there people out there who just get random nosebleeds for no apparent reason? If a London professional had to excuse themselves from a meeting because of a nosebleed would you think anything of it?

I'd be wondering why it made a difference that they were a 'London professional'?!

NowZeusHasLainWithLeda · 24/05/2023 09:17

No.
"Oops sorry, got a nosebleed. Back in a second".
I'm in Kent though. Hmm

Seraphina1993 · 24/05/2023 09:18

My mum had them very bad and had to have surgery to correct the problem. I remember once she came home from work with blood all over her blouse from a really bad nose bleed that started when she was on the tube :/

I mean it's hardly UNproffesional to have a nose bleed unless you've been picking your nose. I don't see how being a London Professional is supposed to exonerate you from random nose bleeds. Everyone gets them

Blankspacehere · 24/05/2023 09:20

Brummie here.

It's contractually expected that there'll be some bodily fluid in a meeting.

SaladRooney · 24/05/2023 09:21

When I was a 'London professional', I had to excuse myself from meetings to puke on a regular basis throughout my pregnancy, including major meetings I was chairing. The world didn't end. 'Sorry, excuse me a minute -- X, could you please collect opinions on Y so as not to waste time?'

The only time in my life I've had heavy nosebleeds was when I was very stressed -- are you?

OhhhhhhhhBiscuits · 24/05/2023 09:21

I would think a London professional is really unprofessional, but I would forgive a Manchester professional.

RudsyFarmer · 24/05/2023 09:21

Are you worried people might think you’re snorting coke recreationally?

Vermin · 24/05/2023 09:22

It depends if they made a great holy show of themselves or just quietly sorted themselves out. Fuss poss acceptable for arterial spurting
(city)

Oh that's interesting. We have a, family history of bad nose bleeds. My Mom had them from childhood and they lessened in puberty. I was the same, nose would just gush blood. I can remember arguing with a dinner lady at school about not putting my head back cos I knew I'd be sick. They lessened after puberty but u still get them. And now DS gets them, although he DEF had wonky genes and o2 so want show is it was linked but then one of the twins has had the odd nosebleed at 3. So I know it's genetic bit if never thought it might be a condition

ItsCalledAConversation · 24/05/2023 09:23

Unless it happened a lot (in which case I’d presume they were a coke head) of course I wouldn’t think anything at all and would just ask if they were okay when they returned. If they were gone longer than 15 mins I’d go check on them. That’s it. Same for any profession in any city.

TorviShieldMaiden · 24/05/2023 09:25

I get nose bleeds quite a lot. I don’t do coke. I wouldn’t think anything of it.

Geordie here, also contractually obligated

sparklefresh · 24/05/2023 09:25

'London professional'?

Meadowsandtractors · 24/05/2023 09:25

I had a colossal nosebleed yesterday from hay-fever (no sneezing involved)

I would say that the term "London professional" says more about you though, OP. 😁

Meadowsandtractors · 24/05/2023 09:26

All hail those pesky coke snorting professionals in London

Marblessolveeverything · 24/05/2023 09:27

Me and my family have had them all had minor surgery to try correct, didn't work.

The most embarrassing was in a nightclub in my early 20s wearing a white mini dress. Poor bouncer gave me a Tshirt to put on so I didn't scare the taxi man.

misspollycat · 24/05/2023 09:27

Why would anyone "think anything of it" ?
Just a quick "Are you okay? Do you need anything?" would suffice.

Nosebleeds can happen to anyone - London professionals, unpaid carers, shop workers.....I wouldn't think anything of any of them.

I'm sure most of us have found ourselves in difficult situations at awkward times.

IdentifyWithNotAs · 24/05/2023 09:28

I worked with a London professional who had random nosebleeds. I assumed she was either stressed or did a load of coke. So I guess it reflected poorly on her through my assumptions and possibly through no fault of her own. Shit happens.

Tinydance · 24/05/2023 09:29

I've suffered with random nosebleeds my whole life. I usually get them if I'm stressed or tired, or sometimes just because it's hot out. I was leading a meeting yesterday with people I'd not worked with before and I suppose I was worried that thet would jumped to conclusions that it was coke related. I didn't make a fuss or anything and just politely excused myself for a minute and then continued the meeting without another hitch.

PurelyBelter · 24/05/2023 09:29

DP gets regular nosebleeds. Should I be suspicious he is a secret cokehead? Or is that reserved only for “London Professionals”? Come on OP, come back and drip drip drip.

Tinydance · 24/05/2023 09:31

Omg this reminded me of possibly the worst nosebleed instance of my life. I was young and foolish and kissing a boy in a nightclub and when we pulled apart we were both covered in blood. The bouncer assumed the guy had assaulted me and chucked him out 😂

SirChenjins · 24/05/2023 09:32

Edinburgh here. Nosebleeds in meetings are usually a result of drunken fights or too many deep fried pizzas. Natch.

London professional 😂

Meadowsandtractors · 24/05/2023 09:33

Glad you're okay OP

But the stress of measuring your self-worth by what job you have is likely to lead to burnout and include nosebleeds.
