Why can't I find and search for nhs jobs anymore? Where are they hiding? There seems to have been some kind of update/change if website and it's a mystery to me. Can anyone help please?

www.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate/search

This? It has changed!

I'm a web designer and I was curious so just had a quick look. I cannot find any way to actually search for the jobs. How bizarre!

www.jobs.nhs.uk/candidate

This is what comes up when you google and click on search jobs!

But there's no way to search for actual jobs from the link. I'm very confused!

Exactly! Surely we can't be the only people in the country having this problem?

On this page, click the magnifying glass icon on the top right to open the search section.

Typical nhs. It's a new jobs website but you can't search for jobs on the new jobs website you have to search for jobs on the old jobs website. GrinGrin

BonnieGlasses · 23/05/2023 22:04

You shouldn't have to read instructions to know how to use a website. That's terrible!

RoseslnTheHospital · 23/05/2023 22:07

That icon of a magnifying glass on a top menu of a website usually represents a generic search option for searching the website content. It's not sensible to use it as the main link to the actual job search functionality itself.

What shit website design. This will be losing them applications. Be interested to know how this got signed off and how much it cost.

You can give them feedback on the website design .

beepbops · 23/05/2023 22:13

They’re going to end up with no one working for them! Lol

Yeah, just like with the last website where I must have applied for 30 jobs on over the years. I never even had an acknowlement - I don't think the applications get through to be honest. Explains the staff shortage GrinGrinGrinGrin

jamiejean · 23/05/2023 22:20

How strange, I was literally just on it it afternoon and although it had changed from the last site, it came straight up when I googled NHS jobs and the job search bit was clear on the first page. I've just looked again and can't seem to find it though 🤔

LuckOfTheDrawer · 23/05/2023 22:21

I used this today, and felt confused too 😄. They've made it worse.

Beck2023 · 23/05/2023 22:24

Thank you so much for this thread! I’ve been going round in circles for the last 15 minutes 🙈😂😂

User8075 · 23/05/2023 22:27

Thought it was just me who was confused by this update! Has anybody figured out how to see the most recent adverts? Used to be able to sort by date posted but it looks like that option's gone now.

flyingtherag · 23/05/2023 22:29

I knew that nhs jobs was changing but not to make it harder to recruit!

ConstanceAlways · 23/05/2023 22:32

I'm also a website designer. I'm baffled this has apparently been created in consultation with users and research. I'm going round in loops. I'm on my phone. Maybe it's easier to navigate on desktop?

TimeSlipMushroom · 23/05/2023 22:36

I bet the person who signed off this website is getting paid a lot more than me...

I miss the old website with the weirdly cut out inages of staff in uniform

OP posts:
Wowzel · 23/05/2023 22:39

They've also removed the option to filter by things like nursing, or admin

Which is just bizarre

Pippipumpkin · 23/05/2023 22:42

It's crap. I regularly check NHS jobs (for possible moves and just inspiration/career planning) .
They have taken away the ability to filter by newest first which is the most annoying thing.
I also used to be able to search by the county I live in. Now it's county +5 miles as a minimum, so I have to trawl through jobs for the surrounding counties (accept I will have to change the way I search to local city/town+miles).
I accept that the old website had been around for ages, but I thought it was pretty user friendly, and I was able to easily find relevant jobs. Dread to think how much money has been spent in the upgrade

RoseslnTheHospital · 23/05/2023 22:47

The desktop and larger screens like iPads version has the search section visible on loading across the top of the screen. The mobile/smaller screen version collapses and hides the entire search section underneath the magnifying glass icon top right. There's no text to indicate that's where the search has gone if you move your mouse over the icon, nor any other hint. Odd choice.
