Toll tags for France

We used a family member’s last year but this year need to sort our own. I hadn’t realised there are several on the market. Any recommendations?

We’re in France again this year but not sure if we’ll do France, Spain or the Netherlands next year, so probably looking for most reliable PAYG option with best rates for low usage.

We've always used emovis tag. They bill you the following month though.

DeuxSanges · 23/05/2023 21:09

That’s fine - I know the one we used last year did that (a few weeks of living in blissful ignorance! God, the roads are nice, though). I see that Eurotunnel have a partnership with them as well. Was just thrown by the options as for some reason I had in my head it was one central thing.

We always use emovis too. Makes such a difference, but I’m always nervous it won’t work the first time!

DeuxSanges · 23/05/2023 21:18

@Wildernesstips it is sorcery indeed

We have a BIP &go one - works well!

Do you know if I need a tag or can I pay with card as I go but accept there will be a queue?

Going to northern France this year for the first time in years. Thanks.

DeuxSanges · 23/05/2023 21:26

@doradoo I’m just comparing this with Emovis and I think it might be Bip n Go which we used last year, as I know it was a version that included Italy as well. The rates seem cheaper than Emovis…

@283nouveauxnoms you can pay with card in those lanes but honestly, a tag is worth checking out. We’d always paid at the booths previously and it was a dream to just sail through last year.

I used emovis last summer for the first time and it was brilliant! Especially as a single parent travelling with children so trying to lean over to pay each time would have been a challenge!! Definitely recommend!

@283nouveauxnoms you don't need a tag and can pay as you go (I'm assuming they'd take card but hopefully someone else will be able to confirm it).

You can just pay with a card or cash. Obviously easier if you have a front seat passenger who can do it for you.

Nomowmay · 23/05/2023 21:38

Bip and Go. Makes life so much easier not having to stop and queue at the tolls.

283nouveauxnoms · 23/05/2023 21:41

Thank you all, it’s literally a trip of a few days in a confined area (and also off peak season) so not even sure if we will be on toll roads yet, must check! Good to know I can pay by card still, I don’t think it’d be worth me getting a tag for that. DH will just lean out and pay!

caringcarer · 23/05/2023 23:16

We keep a whole purse just for coins for toll roads.

GreenwichOrTwicks · 05/06/2023 09:09

Interesting /am looking through these now - looking at Ulys which seems the cheapest?

DeuxSanges · 15/06/2023 11:20

@Nomowmay or @doradoo - do you either of you have a sponsor code to refer a friend? I think it’s the customer reference number - if I enter it at checkout, we each get €4 credit.
