Can you eat fried eggs and salmon together?

Is that a weird combination? I'm having salmon ( first time) and I want to reduce card intake so I don't want chips. I don't have any salad either. Is a fried egg weird choice ?

You can literally eat what you want with anything you want.

MessyBunny · 23/05/2023 16:40

I think any egg/salmon combo works.

We have scrambled eggs and salmon quite often.

Salmon omelette is fab and really filling.

Scrambled egg and salmon is a classic combo. Although I'm not hugely keen on it myself.

No. The 1763 Salmon Act of Parliament specifically prohibits the eating of the combination of salmon and fried egg. Interestingly due to some lobbying at the time you are allowed salmon and poached egg together but only if the egg had been laid "within an hour's walk from the place of food preparation".

I hope this helps.

Sounds like Eggs Royale, go for it!

I think you'll find that these regulations have been amended to include the option of spiralised courgette or cauliflower rice, which of course had not been discovered at the time the Act to which you refer came into force.

It truly works. We have it from time to time. A bit of watercress is nice to add.

LangClegsInSpace · 23/05/2023 17:04

I think boiled, poached or scrambled go better with it.

tailinthejam · 23/05/2023 17:04

I had kippers and scrambled egg for lunch - I've broken some terrible unwritten law by having kippers instead of salmon, haven't I?

Scrabbled egg and smoked salmon is a classic combination.

Smoked salmon in an omlette is fine too.

Poached salmon and boiled egg in a salad is lovely.

I wouldn't eat salmon and fried egg though.

knittingaddict · 23/05/2023 17:15

OP, smoked salmon or salmon fillet?

I think it matters which it is.

YouNeverSeeTheRealMe · 23/05/2023 17:16

You can eat anything you like. I wouldn't fancy fish with egg, but if you like it, have it.

MaryJean87 · 23/05/2023 17:17

It can go together but personally I find it a bit heavy on the stomach. Salmon and egg yolks can be rich.

FinallyHere · 23/05/2023 17:32

I'm intrigued to know who you think might stop you eating what you want?

CharlottenBurger · 23/05/2023 18:32

Surprised nobody's mentioned kedgeree, or is that out because of the rice? You can definitely use salmon instead of the usual smoked haddock, because I've done it.
