Shed paint regret

I've painted the garden shed in 'warm stone' by Ronseal and it just looks shite.
Fences are dark oak, shall I just go over it?

Can you give it another coat ?

sunshineandtea · 23/05/2023 14:02

Yes I can, I'm just wondering if it sticks out like a sore thumb?

it looks fine - I would leave it

It looks fine to me. Bear in mind it'll probably weather over time anyway and become more subdued (than it already is).

Or go the whole hig and paint it stripey, or with a rising sun on it etc.

ApocalypseNowt · 23/05/2023 14:37

It does look a bit anaemic tbh, especially given the contrast with the darker fence.

If it were me I'd paint it a bright 'fun' colour i have no taste though

Saz12 · 23/05/2023 14:44

Personally Id do it a darker colour so it disappears into the background a bit more. Its a perfectly nice shed, but not a Shed Of Staggering Beauty so id aim to have it blend in.

Zarataralara · 23/05/2023 14:46

Give it another coat and leave it to weather. It looks fine

sunshineandtea · 23/05/2023 14:48

I wanted to get blue but thought it's a bit 'silly'.
I think I'll paint it dark like the fence as PP said, it's is not a Shed of Outstanding Beauty 🤣🤣

You could paint the flat bit around the roof in a different colour

JellyComb · 23/05/2023 14:52

I think its a nice colour!

mastertomsmum · 23/05/2023 14:53

I like it, better than too dark or orangey

SeaStatePhenomenal · 23/05/2023 15:17

I prefer the colour of the shed to the fence but it’s personal choice. If anything I would paint the fence!

SeaStatePhenomenal · 23/05/2023 15:17

But I still think it all looks fine. Rustic!

MonumentalLentil · 23/05/2023 15:38

I like the shed, but hate the fence. It's too dark, so I would paint the fence lighter and leave the shed as it is.

My shed is light green with a green & white striped door and window frame though. I am temped to get the colour you used for something as I do like it.

AWhaleSwamBy · 23/05/2023 15:44

I like it how it is. It's a nice colour. I wouldn't do it darker.

AlltheFs · 23/05/2023 15:45

Do it blue. Our garden room is blue! It’s nice.

Thesunwillcomeoutverysoon · 23/05/2023 16:02

You will make that area really small having it all dark brown.. Leave it. Maybe add some outdoor features to it? Mirror? A few non tacky ornaments?
Bird house? Wind chimes if you don't like your ndn!

ChrisPNoodles · 23/05/2023 16:15

Did you stir the stain before you applied it? It looks like it's been painted in the fluid floating on the top of the pigment.

sunshineandtea · 23/05/2023 16:25

It's right at the bottom of the garden behind a trampoline so not too important. There's a log cabin opposite which is a lighter brown so there's too many colours I think?

NDN on left won't let me paint their (very wonky) fence!

I think you did a great job!

Why would blue look silly? I think something like this would look gorgeous!:

I'd keep it a light shade if I were you, it brightens up the dark corner it's in. My shed is cream with a contrast trim (teal blue atm but it's been other colours), inside is apple white and a deeper sage green. I really like it.

My sister's is cream with a pale green trim, it looks absolutely fabulous especially now the honeysuckle growing up the side is flowering. You can do so much with sheds!

sunshineandtea · 23/05/2023 16:32

OK you've all persuaded me to give it another coat and do the edges a different colour. Will report back when I've finished.

GMsAWinner · 23/05/2023 16:32

I prefer lighter or coloured sheds. We've had our shed since 2014, since when DH painted it a rich rustic colour (knowing I preferred something lighter). It's weathered and he since painted a dark brown! Neither go with the fence and both have weathered over time.

Unless you change it to blue, I'd leave it for now. In winter you might appreciate something a bit lighter to look out on when it's a dreary day.

Justbetweenus · 23/05/2023 16:37

My shed is blue. It looks especially good when it’s snowed and everything else is monochrome.

sunshineandtea · 23/05/2023 17:54

Two coats. Still wet
