Hi has anyone done this by accident, I woke up and thought I hadn't taken my sertraline which I normally take 200mg of so I took 200mg. Now I'm not sure if I had taken it last night 😕 has anyone done this if so what happened ? Thanks

Maybe skip tomorrow's dose?
I use an app called Take Your Pill and it reminds me to take my setraline at a time determined by me and I can log that I've taken it cos I kept forgetting to!

It's an overdose so I would seek medical advice. Go to the nearest pharmacy and check. The max dose is 200mg. If you had taken 100 then 100 I would have said it's probably not going to cause much problem. However 200 then 200 is significantly more.

Yep, go to pharmacy asap and ask for their advice xx

I would seek advice. 200mg is usually the max for sertraline. But I don't think it is considered dangerous at that level.

Oops. Totally non-medical personal opinion here, based solely on personal experience and the odd browse of the BNF: technically, 200mg a day is the maximum dose, so if you were being extra careful, you might call 111 for advice, but the popularity of SSRIs as a class is partly because they're not very risky in overdose (and even if you really did take it twice, it's not really a massive overdose, and there was a whole night's gap between the two doses anyway, so not as bad as taking double all at once). I'd guess you might possibly feel queasy, or maybe get mild symptoms similar to a normal dose increase, but my money would be on you not noticing any problems. But if you get any worrying symptoms like drowsiness or tachycardia or anything unusual, I'd get checked out.

Thank you. I will definitely do the app that sounds like a really good idea. Thank you

@RachelGreensHair pls do you mind linking to that app? I could really use it. This is all I find when I search.

Incidentally I've forgotten my medication at home today anyway, so that's an issue in itself 🥴

My daughter did exactly this recently... well, in fact she unilaterally decided to switch her pill taking time to the mornings, so took 200mg sertraline last thing at night, then again first thing in the morning. 🙄

She felt a little bit of nausea but that was the only thing that happened; if it was indeed connected.

Hellamegafuckup · 23/05/2023 09:35

That makes me feel a bit better. Thank yoi I feel a bit sick and rubbish but nothing bad. Thank you. I really appreciate it.

I would phone 111 for advice and perhaps just keep a close eye on yourself today, perhaps don't drive or do anything that could cause an accident.
It will probably just be tiredness, nausea rather than anything life threatening but best to seek advice anyway.

The leaflet will ssy what to do if you accidentally take more.. Please do check and don't just hope for the best.

I'm on quite a few medications and got A tablet box which is revolutionary for me. I had no idea about apps. I'm add the link just in case anyone finds it useful.. Handy if leaving the house as you just throw that day in your bag

Here we go. Zoolion Weekly Pill Box 7 Day 3... www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09JW6NZW6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

DRS1970 · 23/05/2023 09:49

I have done this exact same thing. In all likelihood you will be fine. But worth checking with 111. Make sure you tell them it was accidental.

madeinmanc · 23/05/2023 09:52

Go and see a pharmacist and get some real advice from someone who is qualified.
