School uniform or smart clothes for interview

DS has an interview for a much wanted apprenticeship on Friday morning and will be going to school afterwards (no study leave here).

What do you think would be better to wear school uniform or smart trousers, shirt and tie?

Is his school uniform a shirt and trousers?

marshmallowmatcha · 22/05/2023 22:25

I think a shirt trousers and tie would be best. Even if it's his school trousers

Take school uniform with him and get changed after interview.
Good luck for the interview!

School uniform is shirt, tie, blazer, trousers.

What’s the apprenticeship? If office based I’d go trousers shirt and tie, if trade, something a little less formal but still tidy - trousers and shirt/polo.

I wouldn’t wear school uniform top but the trousers should be fine. Good luck to him! Apprenticeships are like hen’s teeth around here.

If the school uniform is obviously school uniform I definitely wouldn't go with that. I'd definitely take a change of clothes. Or any chance he can nip home in between?

AssertiveGertrude · 22/05/2023 22:30

I think I agree about wearing the school trousers and shirt but a different tie

really wish him the best

Hellocatshome · 22/05/2023 22:34

Thank you everybody and for the good wishes. Its for an engineering company so not office based but it is a big international company and I think they will expect them to be smart.

The uniform is definitely very school uniform looking so he can wear his black school trousers with a different shirt and tie and just change his top half in the car on the way to school.

Then I'd go shirt, trousers and a different tie.

They won't expect someone starting out to have a suit

2bazookas · 22/05/2023 22:41

smart dark trousers, ironed white shirt, tie.
Fine for school afterwards.

AssertiveGertrude · 22/05/2023 23:10

Let us know how he gets on op and we have every good faith in him !! Would be a great opportunity to get it

TooOldForThisNonsense · 22/05/2023 23:13

School shirt and trousers

different tie

good luck!

Jonnycakes · 22/05/2023 23:14

Ds did interviews for his apprenticeships in a shirt, tie (regular not school tie) and suit pants. I wouldn’t send him in school uniform, it might make him feel like a child when he’s actually entering the workplace.

No worries, was going to say all the applicants for apprenticeships went to interviews in suits

Hellocatshome · 25/05/2023 21:40

Interview tomorrow, shirt ironed and his girlfriends Dad has lent him a tie and tie pin. I had to make an emergency trip to get new shoes as his school shoes are literally holding on by a thread. I'm super nervous he seems very chilled.
