Indigestion or gallstones

DorritLittle · 22/05/2023 21:53

I get this too. I think it’s related to digestion.

Could it be an ulcer? The last couple of months I've been taking high doses of ibuprofen due to ongoing joint issues

Gall stones. Excruciating pain.

Writeandroll · 23/05/2023 06:28

Does your sternum just need to click?

StrawberryPi · 23/05/2023 06:46

This does sound quite similar to when I had a stomach ulcer, so I wouldn't rule it out.

StrawberryPi · 23/05/2023 06:47

Although mine was happening several times an hour all day...

Italyoruk · 23/05/2023 06:58

Gastritis. Inflammation of the stomach lining. Stop the ibuprofen as it’s bad for the stomach. Don’t drink alcohol or spicy food for a few weeks. When you need to take ibuprofen in the future you must ensure it’s on a full stomach

drstranger · 23/05/2023 20:02

It's happened again tonight (first time today) about 30 mins after my tea, does that sound about right if it's an ulcer or gastritis?
Feels like indigestion though atm

drstranger · 23/05/2023 20:20

Could be, ibuprofen is very harsh on the stomach. Have you been taking any omeprazole or anything alongside it?

Skyeheather · 23/05/2023 20:36

It sounds like a digestive problem. Speak to your GP, they can prescribe you something and discuss your diet and eating with you.

Stop taking the ibuprofen, it will be making it worse if it a digestive issue. So will paracetamol.

drstranger · 23/05/2023 20:56

Sorry I am prescribed lansoprazole and do take that every morning

jalopy · 23/05/2023 21:15

Agree with Italyoruk. Ibuprofen is an irritant to the stomach if taken long term. It might have caused gastritis.

booboo82 · 23/05/2023 21:16

Indigestion, piles ? Herpes?

declutteringmymind · 23/05/2023 21:17

Take some gaviscon and see if it helps. And yes could be irritation from NSAIDS.

Why would piles or herpes cause pain in my stomach area ? Confused

drstranger · 23/05/2023 21:20

Yeah I'm thinking gastritis too now, just thought the anti acid would help. Can't win ! Does this mean I can't take ibuprofen at all ever now?
