What would you make the most of, if you could rewind to 6-12 months before starting a family?

Just that really, we’re in that position now and would love to know what you would do a bit more of/make the most of pre kids if you had a rewind button or if that’s your situation now.

Child free holidays

ineedspace · 22/05/2023 19:24

More holidays! They are lovely now just not really a holiday.

Partytastic · 22/05/2023 19:24

Just been able to put on your shoes, pick up your keys and phone and go somewhere.

A 2 week all inclusive holiday at an adult only resort with spa. Uninterrupted sunbathing, unlimited cocktails and massages.

I’ve heard it’s parenting just in another location haha. Can’t beat a good sunshine break. We can’t wait for family holidays too though they always look good fun when we see other holidaymakers, but I bet it can be tricky at times

More spontaneous sex!

museumum · 22/05/2023 19:26

Date nights! Dinners, cocktails, non family friendly venues.

overitunderit · 22/05/2023 19:26

The cinema, sitting outside a coffee shop with a coffee and a book, a beach holiday, city breaks, eating out in restaurants. Life is a million times better with my DC but life is also a lot less free!

curlywurlylover666 · 22/05/2023 19:26

Holidays! Only paying for the 2 of us, to sit on a sun bed, eat out every night and drink cocktails. And outside of school holidays. 100% it would be holidays.

Now I'm struggling to justify even a week in a caravan in summer holidays in Cornwall (£1700, i mean really!)

And an abroad holiday blows my mind, I mean its £4000 easily for a week in Turkey (2 weeks in Barbados didn't even cost us that pre children)

SmallElephants · 22/05/2023 19:27

Boring but financial stability. Some savings. Finish studying!

Dacadactyl · 22/05/2023 19:27

Travelling. I was 21 and DD was unplanned, I'd have loved the opportunity to travel more.

Justchooseone · 22/05/2023 19:28

Exercise!! Don’t underestimate being able to go to a yoga class whenever you want.

Other than that holidays as others have said, and of course, lie ins!

Merrow · 22/05/2023 19:28

Restaurants, theatre, holidays!

We did prioritise going to the theatre, and I'm really pleased that we did. We didn't really have the money for more holidays but in hindsight we should have tried harder to budget for one!

Kirstyshine · 22/05/2023 19:29

Not feeling nauseous. I’d do loads of organising at work to help cushion my upcoming 6 months of piss-poor performance. And I’d do loads of yoga to get fit for the pregnancy.

Newname47 · 22/05/2023 19:29

I'd get my house sorted. Neither time nor money after.

VivaVivaa · 22/05/2023 19:29

Seeing friends who don’t live locally.

This was what we were trying to do before I had DD but we were due to go away May 2020 so that didn’t happen! It had a sunset beach and a lazy river. Sigh.

Upanddownthemerrygoround · 22/05/2023 19:31

Travelling.

Mutabiliss · 22/05/2023 19:31

Holidays. Holidays holidays holidays.

Also just being by yourself. Existing as a human who only needs to think about themselves.

Leaving the house with just your keys and phone, without having to tell anyone, check it's ok or pack a bag with a million things and take a baby with you.

Get the house sorted, do all the niggly jobs you never get around to... because you never will again.

ArcticSkewer · 22/05/2023 19:31

My beautiful body, before it was trashed.

So everything from more sex to just wearing a bikini. In fact, I should have worn a bikini all day every day in summer

pastypirate · 22/05/2023 19:32

Money. I wish I'd bought a load of really expensive clothes and shoes.

Mutabiliss · 22/05/2023 19:35

Good yes, exercise. Get your body in good condition, because pregnancy is hard and you can't take babies to the gym. I firmly believe the reason so many women start running after having a baby is that it's the only form of exercise that's free and enables you to escape the house.

Thank you! Definitely take for granted just leaving the house without a thousand bags and settling a baby and making sure they have all they need.
