How am I meant to get signed off if it takes 4 weeks to get a Dr appt?

Just that really.

This job has ruined my mental health and I need to be signed off asap. But it takes 4 weeks to get a Dr appt!

What am I meant to do?! Can an online Dr give sick notes? I’m desperate 😭

I've just did that today. You can also self certify for a week

I’m betting your gp practice does online sicknotes. That’s how I got mine. It’s automatic for 2 weeks bu5 I could have extended every 2 weeks.

That week…

If you can afford £20-£30 for an online private GP session (eg Babylon health) you can more or less pick and choose an appropriate time for you. They can do prescriptions so can’t imagine they couldn’t do a sick note.

Can you see the acp nurse or get a telephone appointment? Many use that as triage for a f2f appointment. You may have to phone first thing fir a same day one. Self certify for five days in the meantime.

E consultation with a comment that you just can’t carry on and have to take some time off.
Dont minimise how you feel in the form!

Phone and say it's urgent?

Does your practice have ANPs or a Mental Health Nurse? A documented consultation with either of these would mean we could issue you a fit note at the practice I work at.

Are you genuinely saying that your practice only forward books? No same day appointments at all?

I got one with just filling out the econsult, I didn't need an appointment or to even speak to a Dr

Self certify for a week then phone every day for an emergency appointment.
