Being sick..

We're not a sicky family, and I can't remember the last time I was sick. But I've been throwing up all night, and I thought I'd stopped, so I had a little water. And threw up again. I'm so thirsty-is there anything I can drink that I might be able to keep down? I'm on my own, so can't send anyone out for stuff. Would herbal tea be better than water? Help!

Little sips of water- like a teaspoon every 5 mins or so. Tbh even if you throw it up a little would have been absorbed.
Flat full fat coke is also supposed to be good.

Yes a teaspoon every 5 minutes will be tolerated better

When I've had sickness bugs, some very diluted full sugar squash and little sips very frequently has been my go-to. Full sugar to give you a bit of energy. Most of it will probably come back up again till the active puking part dies down though but some will serve to rehydrate you.

Do you have any ice lollies ? Last time I was sick they were the only thing I could manage . Hope you feel better soon .

JadeVS72 · 22/05/2023 09:06

You poor thing. Can you suck some ice cubes/have an ice lolly? Tiny tiny sips if you are drinking water but try to give at least 30 mins after vomiting to sip so stomach can settle a bit.

Thank you-I do like ice, I might try a little. Wish me luck!

Awwww I've been there many times - it's so horrible!!!

Take a little sip of water every few minutes. Just enough to wet your mouth. If you're able to keep it down after 30-60 mins, you can increase the amount you drink slightly.
