Side orders

When you go out to eat do you order sides? I don't usually unless I've ordered a started for a main.

If you do order a side what do you go for - for me it's chips. I don't know anyone who I've been out with who orders a side salad or peas or boiled potatoes but someone must. Is it you?

Lobster tail if in Miller and Carter and I’m having a steak.
Olives.
Cheesy garlic bread.
Sweet potato fries.
Extra chili 🌶️ if I’m at Wagamamas.

Not been out for ages though as I’m perimenopausal and can’t be bothered with being social at the moment.

Onion rings to share with DP usually (depending on where we are/the type of food)

Caramelised green beans
Tomato and onion salad
Tender-stem broccoli with almonds

Whatever I feel like at the time! I can't imagine limiting myself to the same side regardless of meal ordered!

I do usually order something green on the side, but it has taken me years to sort out my disordered eating and the only way I can stay on track is by being careful at every meal. I can’t just go and have pizza and chips or something once, because I will end up on a binge! So always order proper food and veggies dishes on the side if the meal doesn’t have them.

When we went to Teohs in Bristol (sadly gone now, Chinese/Thai/Malay/Indonesian fusion) I always ordered a side bowl of egg fried rice. Husband used to say 'Do you really need that?' and end up begging for half.

When I was trying to lose weight I would order a side salad or extra veggies. I will sometimes order more veggies but it depends what I’m eating. My go-to sides are halloumi fries, garlic bread, onion rings or coleslaw. However, my Nando’s order is halloumi to start and two sides, garlic bread and broccoli.

The only side I order is the side salad.

I very rarely do but I've noticed a few times recently places not including sides in the cost of a meal. For example a burger that once came with chips no longer does. If you want chips then you have to order a side. Similarly a pasta dish that once included a couple of slices of garlic flat bread no longer does. Granted the sides you order separately are larger portions but prices of mains have not dropped proportionally.
In response to OP, if I do order a side it's always a salad or veg. I've not got a massive appetite so find eating salad and veg preferable to a carb.

Hardly ever unless it's something like yakitori skewers or gyoza. I prefer to save my appetite for dessert instead.

Maybe that's it. I usually end up ordering something that comes with chips and some veg i guess 😄

See I think nandos is different because with the sides you are building your meal. If you didn't have sides it would just be chicken.
