Motability car pick up tomorrow!

motabilitycar · 21/05/2023 12:58

I apologise for this thread now but I’m getting a new car tomorrow.

it’s motability and I thought I would have to wait months as that’s what I’d read on line.

i only ordered last Monday and I pick up tomorrow.

im so excited. My adp came through Friday before last and had been awarded a enhanced mobility from standard. So I’m eligible for a motability car. And my blue badge is on its way too. I cannot believe this, obviously a car and blue badge doesn’t come anywhere close to making up for my disabilities but should make everything just that little bit easier.

I just needed to get my excitement out and don’t know who to tell 😂

How, exciting what have you got?
we were lucky too with my sons mobility car ,he gets high rate mobility component under the Severe mental impairment rules so we didn't need any adaptation,s and we got a cancelled one so it took two weeks.

Someo · 21/05/2023 13:40

Very exciting! What did you go for?

thank you. It’s a Nissan xtrail, in champagne colour. It’s so gorgeous. I tried a few cars but they couldn’t get me in the back (my legs were squished) but the xtrail could. It was between the Nissan xtrail and the seat Ateca. But the Ateca was 6 month wait and the xtrail they had two in stock. So that was decision made.

cannot wait.

I've been with Motability 10 years now and that turn around is suspiciously quick. You haven't already given them any money have you???

SchoolTripDrama · 21/05/2023 18:52

Is the order showing up on your portal? If the vehicle is in stock, it takes 14 days from order to collection as whilst the dealer is registering the vehicle, it also takes Motability 14 days to approve the application and process the order.

It doesn’t always take that long. I got my motobility car in January. It was in the showroom, I placed the order on the Thursday, and collected the following Friday. Happy new car OP, enjoy! Oh, and do you know you will also get a £500 payment in the next few weeks from motobility as well 😀

I haven’t given them money, it’s a local Nissan dealership. They had the car in stock. I heard online in a motability fb group and from the motability guy in the dealership that it takes a minimum of 4 days to process everything. It’s on my online motability account and everything. So no need to worry.

they said they could have done it last week but they were too busy.

is that the new car payment? It’s 750£ and I put it towards the advance payment. I haven’t heard about an extra 500£.

It takes 14 days to process orders on Motability side. Also I would be very concerned as to why the vehicle is in stock. The only time I've ever accepted a stock vehicle it was nothing but problem after problem after problem. It turned out to have been made with a secondhand rear door, a secondhand windscreen and several components of the engine were also secondhand and rusted. The final nail in the coffin was the locking system failing and locking my newborn in the car the moment I stepped out of it. Motability took it back and claimed from Nissan. I got £5,500 compensation from that ordeal so naturally I'm very suspicious of their "luckily we have one in stock right now" vehicles. Ever since I've insisted on factory orders and haven't had a single issue.

The new vehicle payment has gone up to £750 but I think it's only for orders placed during a certain time period.

SingleMumStruggling · 21/05/2023 19:38

I also pick up my motability car tomorrow. I applied online and was approved immediately. I then had to go to the dealership and choose the car I wanted etc. However getting the actual car has been 4 months from ordering - nothing to do with motability, it's been from the manufacturers side.

Did you need any adaptations made to it OP? Enjoy your car and I hope it makes life a little easier for you.

CockSpadget · 21/05/2023 19:48

Oh yes, sorry it is £750! I got confused as I received £250, then received an email a month or so later to say it had been increased and I received another £500, so yes £750 in total. @SchoolTripDrama it obviously doesn’t always take 14 days as it didn’t in my case. I could have had one from stock that had just landed in Portsmouth, and it would have taken a few weeks, but I fell in love with the one in the showroom, which had just come in, and because it was the show model, it was specced up to the nines, so win win for me.

It does say that on their website, but i did the online account thing before i went to the dealership and then placed the order at the dealership and they said its a minimum of 4 days to sort everything out. my application was accpeted immediately.

Great news, we waited six months for our Nissan. It's great when they have stock.
