What jobs have you got to do around the house today?

And are you going to put them off like me?!

I need to wash the patio furniture which hasn’t been done since last summer and hoover inside the car. I can’t motivate myself to do either so I’m just lying around at the moment making excuses in my head.

What’s on your to do list today? Any tips to get started?

to much and i dont know why my stomach hurts so kinda put off

lets see

clean kitchen
tidy/vac living room
clear crap in garden
sort laundry
clean loo

i think i may stick a dishwasher load on and stick with basics of dentangle childs hair and cook dinner later =/

EmmaStone · 21/05/2023 11:16

My cleaners didn't turn up (again) this week, so my house hasn't had a good clean for about 3 weeks. I did upstairs yesterday and doing downstairs today. I hate cleaning, there's a reason I pay ☹️. I've got tomorrow off, so will enjoy the sun then...

Funkyslippers · 21/05/2023 11:20

Not much today as I did loads yesterday. I mowed the lawn and cleaned and tidied half the conservatory (hasn't been done properly for a year) so will need to do the other half but oh has his plants stacked up so I can't get to the other half atm. Put the laundry out, bring it in later and sort it, general tidying and making tea later. It's too lovely outside to do much inside! Biggest job will be getting DD to tidy her room to a reasonable standard 🥴

Whiskeypowers · 21/05/2023 11:21

Clean out the car -thanks kids
Finish mowing the lawns. I attempted a no mow May and ended up with a meadow by this week. the grass is so thick and long it’s exhausting work
think of what to make for dinner
Walk dog
endlessly harangue children to finish homework
vacuum
iron school uniforms - with a large glass of wine later i might add

basically the weekend is fitting all the jobs in as thanks to full time work and endless after school shit it never gets done

SkiingIsHeaven · 21/05/2023 11:40

Gardening
Cooking
Might bake something
Sorting washing
I have a million other things to do but won't have the time unfortunately.
I also want to sit in the sun so probably won't do many of my planned chores.

Bemyclementine · 21/05/2023 11:43

Loads . Mid swapping rooms around upstairs so there is stuff everywhere.

Get rid of new bed packaging.

Finish laundry (school uniforms) sort work and school clothes for the week ahead, pe kits, swimming kits, bookings etc.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2023 11:45

Must admit it’s very rare that I do ‘Work around the house’ as dp does most of it. I’m probably going to do some sewing and I might get the garden furniture out and give it a wipe down.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/05/2023 11:45

I might do a bit of ironing, but more likely I might not.

bornintheuk2 · 21/05/2023 11:49

I like the number of 'mights' in this thread.

BiddyPop · 21/05/2023 11:49

Instead of work-work, I have paid tv licence, set dishwasher, swept patio, done 1 bucket of cleaning stones (the pebbles in the back gather muck and then hold water so I am slowly working through that area - just chuck pebbles in garden sieve over large trig, shake, then rake pebbles back smooth). And while I did winter to summer sort of my clothes yesterday, this week's clean clothes are in hot press to be put away.

I need to make the bed. Plant some bulbs and pot on veg plants. Sow beans. Pack a case for 3 day work trip tomorrow. Do some laundry. Sort work papers and read the brief for trip to see do I need anything else. Bake (this is a want rather than need). Hoover sitting room. Grocery shop. Mend a pair of trousers. Wash my car (absolutely needs it!).

Currently lying on (unmade) bed pondering actually getting dressed.

Natsku · 21/05/2023 11:51

Vacuuming upstairs and I did it almost straight after I got up (was going to do it straight way but DS wanted me to help him build something with his new lego he got for his name day)
I find the best way to get my jobs done is to do them before I have my first cup of tea, as the thought of that cup of tea makes me motivated to get the job done. Got to water the tomato and strawberry plants as well but that I'll do later as its not a big job that I need to get out of the way.

TheChosenTwo · 21/05/2023 11:55

Not much. I will change my bedding and already did the downstairs hoovering and proper kitchen clean. Other than that we’re going for a walk and stopping off at the pub for refreshments and coming home where dh will fire up the bbq and feed us all 😂
I have a cleaner so other than a cursory clean round the bathrooms and toilets on a Saturday I don’t do much in the way of proper cleaning. Saying that, I do hoover the kitchen about 3 times a day because I cannot abide the feeling of crumbs under my feet! And obviously the kitchen needs daily cleaning.

AssertiveGertrude · 21/05/2023 12:02

I got up just after 7.30 am to prepare for a job application. I batch cooked a beef stew yesterday and I portioned that up and froze this morning and then put a chicken curry on to slow cook and portion and freeze this evening.

While on I washed out and sorted the three kitchen drawers (the batch cooking saves me so much time and money it’s unreal !!) So then I make a roast / tray bake for us

kids at a play date. I’ve done the school uniforms lunches (as much as I can) and chilling on my bed now, could do with pressure washing the front and car but then I might not bother !!

AssertiveGertrude · 21/05/2023 12:02

Also went to church so it’s been very production - would like to go to the cinema or something

SillyYak · 21/05/2023 12:09

DH has taken the children to his parents so I have a very rare day to myself in the house. Not feeling tip top (which is why I’m not with them) but also fantasising about sorting the house top to bottom while they’re out. In reality I might

put away washing
tidy up toys
hang washing in the garden
put on more washing
make a roast for later
go out and buy some fruit and veg
sort out what clothes I have to wear to a festival next month so I know what I need to get

But then again I might not!

BiddyPop · 21/05/2023 12:27

I'm moving a bit more - now dressed, bed made and case almost packed.

GoodLies · 21/05/2023 12:27

Lots of people much busier than me!

I did just wash the garden furniture down and we can use it now the weather has finally improved. I have done two loads of washing too. I am happy if that’s all I manage today as it’s a job I have been putting off.

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 21/05/2023 12:33

So far today I've made the beds, done a load of washing and hung it out and cleaned the kitchen.
DH has hoovered his car and de weeded the garden. I need to clean out my car but I probably won't if I'm honest. Need to hoover all downstairs and do some more washing.
I might make an effort to fold up and put away all the clean washing

EsmeeMerlin · 21/05/2023 12:37

I already cleaned and hoovered everywhere yesterday. I changed all the bedding this morning and did a general tidy. The only job I have to do today now is the ironing of the school uniforms and put some washing away.

StewPots · 21/05/2023 12:41

Got one load of washing on ( I think there’s approx 3-4 to do 😳whoops! ), cleaned the bathroom, cleaned the kitchen, about to strip and remake the bed… although will wash all that tomorrow.

I have a tomato sauce I made earlier in week defrosting ready to be turned into chilli con carne later so a nice easy dinner. Then when DS comes back later, harangue him into the shower and make sure his homework is done.

That’s about my limit today - oh and ironing later when the washing is dry!!

frozendaisy · 21/05/2023 12:49

Need to sort out compost and recycling.
Then tidy clean wash tidy clean wash tidy clean wash garden garden garden

Will just put radio on and chill plough through whatever gets done.

Rest will get done eventually

Kyse23 · 21/05/2023 13:02

Not much. I want to clean the fridge out and see what I need for my food shop
Laundry is drying on the airer and I'm sat in the garden with an iced coffee!

CrackersCheeseAndWinePlease · 21/05/2023 14:09

The washing is put away and the house has been hoovered. I wonder if I can talk DH into cutting the grass? 🤔

BiddyPop · 21/05/2023 21:33

Had to repack the case this evening when I realised we'd be expected to change before a reception on Tuesday so entire change of plan needed.

Hoovered sitting room, dining room and my car. Delegated the washing of my car to DH. Cooked dinner. Ignored groceries as DH happy he has what's needed. Instead, DH and I went for a bike ride and coffee, as part of getting me fit and used to the new bike for commuting to work. Sorted the papers and will read the brief on the plane.

RoseMartha · 21/05/2023 21:55

I needed to
change bedding on all beds
Do laundry including sorting out two weeks of clean underwear.
Clean bathroom
Hoover
Mop floors

What I actually did was
Change all bedding
Laundry
List some stuff on marketplace
Clear out the boot of the car and got rid of a load of crap.
And take some bags of clothes to the charity bins.

Then I had issues with my eldest dd and everything else was pushed to one side for another day.
