Quite a big garden, beehive is a long way from house.

Personally it would put me off.

It wouldn't put me off. Bees off doing their thing.

FranziskaSchmidt · 20/05/2023 21:48

Yes. Of course.

Aspargustips · 20/05/2023 21:48

Don’t see an issue with this

bees will cause you no bother at all

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 20/05/2023 21:49

Yes, absolutely. I'd be delighted!

Goldrushed · 20/05/2023 21:49

I wouldn't because I would worry about my dogs disturbing them.

Georgiepud · 20/05/2023 21:50

How close is the nearest A & E?
I'm terrified of them, even the sound, so I wouldn't.

Darkchocolatekitkat · 20/05/2023 21:50

Depends. If I had a dog I wanted to exercise in it or I was looking for a secure garden for a very young children to play in, then possibly no. If I was an adult only or older family group for example who wanted somewhere to sit outside with a coffee or whatever, yes I’d be perfectly fine with it.

FiveShelties · 20/05/2023 21:50

Definitely yes

Why would it put you off OP?

CovetedAsFuck · 20/05/2023 21:50

Yes.

DappledThings · 20/05/2023 21:50

Yes, wouldn't cross my mind it was an issue.

UWhatNow · 20/05/2023 21:51

Bees are only interested in pollen. They will only sting if you come into direct contact with them and they perceive a threat. Don’t go within about 10ft and you’ll be safe as houses. Unless you’ve got a known bee sting allergy you’re totally overreacting.

Rauha · 20/05/2023 21:52

I would love that!

VittysCardigan · 20/05/2023 21:54

Yes, and I would spend half of my holiday watching it/the bees

Scoutingforhoney · 20/05/2023 22:00

I’m asking because my partner has a cottage which is going to be listed as a holiday cottage and it’s gorgeous, it has an orchard. And bees. Several hives. They don’t bother me but I do wonder if it would rent better if the bees were relocated.

And I would worry that someone might mess with them or kick a ball at them or something.

FictionalCharacter · 20/05/2023 22:01

I'd love it.

RightWhereYouLeftMe · 20/05/2023 22:06

Wouldn't bother me at all. My grandad used to keep bees, he had about 10 hives at the bottom of a very large garden. None of us ever got stung, and we had delicious honey all the time!

Datafan55 · 20/05/2023 22:16

It wouldn't put me off. It might even attract me as it's wildlife being allowed to do it's thing! I would keep a respectful distance.

However maybe your partner should mention/stipulate in the listings - no dogs, no kids (ie ball games)?

tailinthejam · 20/05/2023 22:17

Could the hives be relocated to a corner of the orchard and fenced off, so that visitors can't get up close and disturb them?

Bees themselves aren't an issue, my garden is full of them in the summer months.

olderthanyouthink · 20/05/2023 22:18

Not because I don't trust my 2 year old to leg it straight for them. 4 year old wouldn't go near them though.

WhenTheBeeStings · 20/05/2023 22:19

I’d love it! I spend ages watching the bees buzzing about on all the pollinators I’ve planted in my garden, I’d love to watch the comings & goings of a hive. I’d even pay to suit up and have him show me inside and what he does, if that was on offer.

HundredMilesAnHour · 20/05/2023 22:20

I HAVE actually rented a converted barn that had several hives outside in the (large) garden. I didn't give it a second thought.

Bluelightbaby · 20/05/2023 22:22

I’d actually see it as a huge positive :)

AnnWithoutAnnie · 20/05/2023 22:24

I think it would be lovely.

as long as it's clear on the listing, I wouldn't give it another thought.

it may put some off, but it will attract other people.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 20/05/2023 22:25

I'd agree that if they were my bees I'd be more worried about them than the visitors...

Something like this? If it was black it would be less noticeable I think.

TeeBee · 20/05/2023 22:25

It would make me more likely to rent it.
