I'm so embarrassed but I'm freaking out about a test I need to go through which is not even meant to be that hard. I have a needle phobia and they need to test nerve function in my foot by putting needles in there and then passing a current through them and asking me to move my foot etc. From what I read it's not meant to be that bad but my doctor and the doctor doing the test both helpfully told me it's painful!!

I tried to go through wuth the test the other day but had to ask them to stop before they even got to the needle part, I felt like such a wimp! I was scared I'd lose it. I didn't realise how bad it'd be- the feeling is horrible.

The doctor has now prescribed me xanax to take beforehand. I've never used it before so not sure what to expect. I also have some weed which i use sometimes for insomrnia which I potentially could take (but it really just makes me drowsy and not sure about interaction with xanax?). Also not sure how much xanax! Doctor prescribed me 5 tabs of 0.5 mg. The pharmacist instructions were written as one before bed!

Not sure if I'm meant to just take the lot to get them through this damn test wihtout jumping off the table. Even just writing this makes me feel sick with anxiety!!

DH will come with me this time as well as I was alone last time so hopefully that'll help.

Any advice or tips? I'm soooo anxious right now. Or tell me to just grow up and be brave and that I'm being pathetic!!

Probably not so useful, Dh has had these tests twice and does not describe it as painful (bearing mind he has nerve damage and a high pain threshold to mitigate any sensations).

I don't know why it's bothering me so much! I breathe my way though blood tests and have learnt to cope. This is a whole new thing!!
