Fitting a ceiling light - any advice?

We're replacing a pendant celing light (pic 1) with a semi-flush chandelier (pic 2). Review comments on the chandelier said it was easy to fit, and we have the instructions. Pic 3 shows the chandelier fitting up close. The electricals seem straightforward, but we're wondering about the mechanics of doing fiddly wiring "up high" whilst also holding the chandelier. There are 2 of us, which will help, and when we get up there and take the old light off, it may just become obvious, but we're trying to think it through before committing ourselves to the task. Can anyone reassure us by talking us through how to do it?

Turn the light switch on, turn off the downstairs lights at the fuse box, the light should go off.
Unscrew rose. Take a photo of wires and where they go in junction box.
Remove old fitting. Tape bare ceiling wires or at least don't let them touch each other.
Fit chandelier bar, prepare for multiple holes, crumbling ceiling.
Wire up chandelier.
Faff and strain with side grub screws.
Turn on electrics, see if it comes on.
Always add an hour onto jobs with electrics.

Thanks. It was the "faff and strain" step we were hoping to get more detail on, but maybe wishful thinking. 🙂
