Torn calf? Popping sensation

Morning all,

Thursday lunchtime my dancer daughter injured herself while at college training. She said she felt a tightness when she was jumping went around again and felt a popping sensation followed by immediate inability to walk. She can limp around on her toes but not on a flat foot.
I did take her to an and e but they said they didn’t scan for this sort of thing and that it was a torn muscle and to wait it out and self refer for physio.
Shes devastated as she has a show coming up in 8 weeks she desperately wants to take part in and is worried she won’t be able to. WIBU to go back to A and E and ask for a scan? I know it’s only been a few days but she’s in terrible pain and it’s not improving at all.

Could you pay to see an orthopaedic surgeon and get a scan privately?

It’s the price that worries me about going private- £80 just for an initial consultation!

Can you self-refer to physiotherapy at your local hospital?

This happened to me a few years ago, just running across a road and felt a popping pain and could barely walk.

I self-referred, was examined and got a treatment plan and some exercise bands. It took a while for me to heal, although I'm much older than your daughter!

I hope she feels better soon.
