20 yo DS2 cooked dinner tonight

I could cry.

I know, ridiculous right? But he's had such a horrible time since lockdown and then his dad died and he retreated right inside himself, lost his job, tried uni but that didn't work out. He's barely spoken to anyone for a year and doesn't eat except junk in the middle of the night.

This evening he has googled a recipe, done the shopping, cooked the dinner and sat at the table to eat it with me. And it was delicious.

Honestly, I am crying writing this.

Oh, that’s wonderful OP! Sorry for all you’ve been through. I get it. If my DS manages something that might look insignificant to others, it really isn’t to him and it’s a great feeling.

Glad you enjoyed!

How wonderful 😍

One resilient son. Be proud

What a lovely bit of news, well done to your DS, I don't blame you for crying, just make sure if he catches you that it's not because the food is bad 😉

"Chose" might be stretching it. There was some encouragement, but he did it.

Oh OP that brought a tear to my eye. These seemingly small things can be such huge milestones for young people with struggles. What an amazing achievement.

Good news, several years ago now my adult son retreated from life,it was a horrid time,he also used to come down to eat in the middle of the night.

Thankfully he came out the other side.Wishing you and your son well.
