Will social services help?

Hi, my grandparents are getting quite elderly and struggling with mobility, they've lived in the same rented house for 30 years but are now at the point they really need a walk in shower/wet room to be able to continue to look after themselves, the landlord has let other neighbours in his properties put walk in showers in at their own expense, but my grandparents can't afford this, are there any grants/help available with things like this? I was thinking perhaps social services would be able to help? If anyone could point me in the right direction it would be appreciated.

Hello, if you Google adult social care services in your area, you can ring them and ask them to come out and do a care act assessment for your grandparents. They may also have OTs there that can do an OT assessment, or they will be able to point you in the right direction if not. If your grandparents are eligible/ the shower meets their needs / they're under the financial threshold then the OT will apply for the grant.
