Where to buy a reasonably priced wardrobe?

DD needs a grown-up wardrobe, she's grown out of her kids one.

We've not seen anything we really like (well, anything I can afford anyway!) on Habitat / Argos, IKEA, Dunelm, Facebook Marketplace or eBay.

Where else should I be looking?

Thanks :)

Wayfair, but read the reviews carefully?
I think M&S, Next, John Lewis might be the next price bracket up, but worth looking at?

Cotswold company do some lovely bits and sometimes you can get bargains in the sale section. More pricey obviously but they do finance plans which are quite affordable.

dreamingoaholiday · 19/05/2023 14:01

I'll try them thanks. Probably too expensive but you never know, they may have some offers!

Any second hand furniture places near you? We got a solid wood double wardrobe from one recently for less than an MDF IKEA one would have cost, it just needed new handles as we didn’t like the ones on it.

Does the British Heart Foundation have a furniture shop near you?

Gumtree?

John Lewis has some surprisingly reasonably-priced ones! But not any I like, sadly.

Cotsworld Co and M&S too pricey.

I'd love to spend some time mooching round 2nd hand shops but life is just too hectic at the moment sadly. I have to get something I can order online I think.

I think my best bet is somewhere with a sale, or somewhere online...

I meant to say - or somewhere that sells 2nd hand online

I found B&Q has loads of wardrobes, reasonably priced.

Found a couple that we're going to have a look and see if they'll fit the space well.

I'll post them here in a bit.

Still up for any suggestions though!

Fuck me, the British Heart Foundation is expensive! I could buy a new one like this, for this price!

your local auction house

BertieBotts · 21/05/2023 21:13

Maybe you can explain what style you want or a picture of a style you like?

bumbledeedum · 21/05/2023 21:15

Marketplace, gumtree?

It's more of a practical problem.than a style one.

The styles I like mostly either won't work or are pricey!

What we need is something to fit a space, where there is a gap between the wall and the end of the bed.

Something long and not too deep when the doors are open would be good.

So, sliding doors would work well in that space, or smallish doors.

A 3 door is about the right width but DD doesn't like 3 doors where the handles are on alternate sides. The asymmetry of it irritates her! It's about the only requirement she has!

I'd like it to replace her chest of drawers also, to save space, if possible, so one with a couple of internal drawers would be great.

Colourise, wood or white. Although, the shelves that are already there could fairly easily be painted to match a colour, I guess.

I meant to say, colour-wise, not colourise!

It looks like there are some sales on for the BH weekend, if anyone's noticed furniture sales I'd love to hear about them.

Also, what's the quality like at Benson's Beds? Are they OK?

Despite it's name www.furnitureforfrance.co.uk is a UK company with lots of wooden furniture.

They're very lovely, thanks, but I can't afford the best part of £1k for a wardrobe.

I need somewhere with a sale on, or second hand.

The ones I shared photos of above are £300 to £480 which I could just about stretch to, but I'd rather spend less if possible.

Sorry I don't mean to sound ungrateful! I'm grateful for suggestions - just got to be a bit careful with money at the moment.

Have you looked on Very, loads of good priced wardrobes and you could spread the cost or do a buy now pay later and pay some each month, interest free if you lay within the time period. They have some bank holiday offers.
