Why is my bank saying this?

I'm trying to send some money to a friend and I've never seen this before, any idea why this has come up?

It's a token amount and not a new recipient.

Why is my bank saying this?

Think it’s just part of the drive by banks to make people think about their online banking payments.

That looks like a long winded way of saying ‘don’t make the same payment instead, check your account regularly over the next few hours to see that the payment has left your account’

It's a routine check.

Just allow 2 hours for the payment to go through.

It's always been this way. They're making it more obvious to customers as many people thought payments were instant.

Just to add - sometimes payments are instant but if it's pulled in for a random check then it can take two hours.

It's been like that for years now but it wasn't common knowledge.

Chances are if it's a regular payee with no issues on the recieving end then it will go through pretty quick.
