Flight refund – have we lost the cash?

Posting for traffic, sorry. DD has booked flights this evening via Kiwi and just spotted she's booked for the wrong month 😢. I know, I know – careless. There seems to be no possibility of a refund – can this be right? No legal recourse and no grace period considering she only booked a couple of hours ago? This is going to be really awful, if she's lost £500. 😢 She doesn't have a credit card either – it's debit.

Did she get a saver ticket? Looks like that one is non-refundable, but I would contact them ASAP and ask them to help as nicely as possible!

I thought there was an automatic 24 period of grace on flights. No idea where I got that idea from so perhaps it's wrong but worth googling.

Unfortunately, that means paying full fare for the new flight and no refund for the first one.

Yep, saver. Kiwi have already said no :-( She's on the phone to the airline now (if they're open).

It seems not, sadly – there's even a clause on their website saying they don't do it as most of the carriers don't.

DP made this same mistake on a BA flight. He phoned them up and they said because he had called within 24 hours, he could have a full refund.

If you cancel you’ll get the airport taxes back which could be quite a lot

Thanks for your help, all. DD now has a refund in process for some, not all of the cash 🙄 but bizarrely, she's been told it will be paid in Czech krona! Her flight was not going anywhere near the Czech Rep – does anyone know why this might be? Is it a crap currency that will cost the airline the least possible, is my guess??

I've just never heard of anything like it ...!

Because they're based in the Czech Republic. They're a dodgy website which has no UK protection such ABTA or ATOL and their website has a page on travel hacks such as hidden city ticketing which although not technically illegal (airlines will say it is), it violates the airline's Conditions of Contract and won't work on the outward sector way of a return ticket (it'll result in the return being cancelled).
