I need something to watch...

I'm not a 'box set' person.. I rarely bother with TV.
But I'm crocheting a huge throw and need something I can half watch while I'm crocheting.
To date the ONLY series I have ever managed are Buffy and The Walking Dead.
I like scifi/fantasy/dystopian reads. Not into crime.

Is there anything, enjoyable, not too heavy (or I'll make crocheting errors) I might try? I have Disney +, Prime and Netflix (never used it but it's free with BT)

Thanks!

Away is really good scifi on netflix. I was disappointed it never got a second series due to the pandemic

Oh and if you’ve read The Power by Naomi Alderman (amazing dystopian book) there’s a series on prime now. That said I’ve not watched it but I loved the book.

weirdeash · 18/05/2023 22:53

not scifi or any of those things but i just finished firefly lane and loved it - maybe worth a try

Lucifer on prime & netflix I think
6 series best to watch in order

IHateFlies · 19/05/2023 00:02

If you like vampires, and you can get itvx, then you might like The Originals.

HappiDaze · 19/05/2023 00:04

Supernatural on Prime might suit you

HappiDaze · 19/05/2023 00:06

Or The handmaids take on Prime if you haven't already seen it

HappiDaze · 19/05/2023 00:07

Tale

Showerroomlove · 19/05/2023 00:09

After you’ve finished the crocheting, you might try Dark; it has to be concentrated on.

StillMedusa · 19/05/2023 00:11

Thank you for the suggestions..I'll check them all out! (Large throw to crochet Grin)
I have read the Handmaid's Tale (one of my favourites) and did watch the first 2 series but lost interest after it went past the original story.

Try Lockwood and Co on Netflix. I loved it

overthehillswegoo · 19/05/2023 08:35

It's not in those genres but Schitt's Creek is a funny, easy watch whilst occupied with something else

Game of Thrones
Fargo
True Detective
The Boys
Steeltown Murders
Happy Valley
Midnight Mass
Haunting of Hill House

Ted lasso, didn't think it would be my thing as I'm usually the crime fan but it's great.

validnumber · 19/05/2023 10:22

True blood
Game of thrones

threecupsofteaminimum · 19/05/2023 11:48

I just finished Beef on Netflix. 10 eps around 35 minutes long, very good.

Indoorcatmum · 19/05/2023 12:16

Angel - Buffy spin-off on Disney +
Orphan Black - Channel 4 or Prime
Silo - Apple Tv
Fringe - Now or Prime
The 100 - ITVX or Prime

Those all fit the sci fi or dystopian genre and are all incredible.

I've watched Fringe and Orphan Black twice through.

They all have some dark themes but are well worth the watch and not particularly heavy. Handmaids tale is amazing but a hard watch!

overthehillswegoo · 19/05/2023 14:08

Also, Unorthodox is great. It's only about 5 eps

Sunflowers80 · 19/05/2023 17:00

Mrs Chatterjee V's Norway on Netflix. Brilliant 👏
