Saturday teatime - need food inspiration

After years of eating the same thing, I'm after ideas for easy Saturday teas? 2 adults, 2 teenagers. We tend to make either homemade pizza, or homemade burgers and rolls, or fried chicken.

Please help....

Our Saturday teas are:
Chicken fajitas/ wraps and homemade wedges
Fresh pasta and sauce with garlic bread
Black bean, chicken, bbq wedges (hello fresh recipe, easy and delicious!)
Lasagne, salad and garlic bread

Any dietary restrictions?

I probably would go for something like tray bakes or pasta with Carbonara sauce. Maybe some kind of homemade fried rice/noodles etc

GizmoIsSoFluffy · 18/05/2023 21:45

No dietary restrictions. But I have 1 teen who won't eat nuts, another teen who picks out anything that looks a bit funny and a husband who doesn't like pasta/rice. He will eat them though.

We are big fans of homemade Gyros. I follow Anna's family kitchen on Instagram and her recipe is great. I do it in the air fryer but you could do it in a normal oven. Cheap, quick, easy. Can prepare it a couple of days before if you have some spare time so you are just cooking it on the night. So much better and tastier than a takeaway.

Fajitas plus nachos, or tacos, burrito etc.
BBQ is our summer go to
Mezze type picky bits - falafel, chicken goujons, flatbread, cous cous salad, olives, tatziki, humous or similar dips

Saturday I give myself a bit more budget, our regular dinners are
Paella
Thai curry
Ginger lemon chicken
White wine and garlic chicken
Fajitas

Often we have a supermarket Chinese bag with extra snacks. Sometimes aromatic duck and pancakes.

Omelettes with a choice of fillings. Stirfry or my treat every once and a while an area of frozen bits like duck spring roll, prawn toast and what ever kind of canape bits my local supermarket have on yellow sticker.

Mac and Cheese with bacon bit and leeks/mushroom or chorizo as an alternative to bacon is popular in my house

Saturday night is always 'treat' food.

We have nachos with chilli or loads of toppings like cheese (obvs), olives, tomatoes, spring onions, guacamole and sour cream.

Posh hot dogs in brioche buns with fries and homemade coleslaw

Pretending kebabs... pulled pork or beef on flatbreads with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, grated carrot and loads of garlic sauce.

Pizza

Halloumi burgers and sweet potato fries

Picnic... fresh bread with salami, Parma ham, crisps etc

Pick a restaurant or take away. Print the menus. Together Pick out a few dishes. Google recipes and recreate at home. If I ask for suggestions for dinner I usually get 'whatever'. This method actually gets suggestions!

I do takeaways Saturdays sometimes, Wagamama chicken Katsu curry is a favourite here, and Nando’s too. Often do kebabs too.
