What is good in Aldi?

Tempted by the new flavoured teas Aldi are now stocking (Jaffa cake being one!) I am going to go out of my way and do my shopping there on Friday. Are there any goodies people can recommend? What are your favourites there?

Skinny sausages
Extra mature cheese (strength 7 if it’s in stock- literally crumbles when cut, it’s so good!)
Prosecco
They did have a salted caramel brownie dessert for a very short period of time which was insane, but they seemed to have stopped it now- perhaps that’s for the best as they were too moreish…
My partner and ds prefer their version of Weetabix
Light mayo is as good as Hellman’s in my view

WellThisIsFun1 · 16/05/2023 21:24

The mini brioche

Friendofdennis · 16/05/2023 21:27

Their own version of Sanctuary bath float is in at the moment. Smells exactly the same and is £3.

maddiemookins16mum · 16/05/2023 21:29

Their fake Fage yoghurt is fabulous and half the price of real Fage yoghurt. We changed to Aldi a year ago, saving about £150 a month of shopping.

GoBackToPartyCity · 16/05/2023 21:35

Chicken shawarma meal kit in the freezer section
Subway style sub-rolls
The chorizo in red wine from the new tapas range

GoBackToPartyCity · 16/05/2023 21:37

Oh, and the caviar illumination cream!

imapterodactyl · 16/05/2023 21:38

Torchon ham
The knock off muller corners with chocolate balls
My favourite ever Pinot Grigio which is only £3.99, also the blush version is good.
Seeded rolls
The instant coffee that looks like azerro
The Red Leicester cheese is lovely
Caviar moisturiser
Paw paw cream
Chocolate
Bags of croissants
craze cereal which is exactly the same as Krave
Frozen chicken burgers with a crispy coating
Fruit and veg are hit and miss but ok

@maddiemookins16mum what's the name of that yoghurt please? OH is currently sending us bankrupt with his rapid full fat Fage consumption.

SquarePegInRoundHole · 16/05/2023 22:16

We go for Greek yoghurt, norpack, aged ribeye steaks, bags of raw prawns, skin on chips, white rioja, pine nuts, dishwasher tablets.

Definitely going to look for the cinnamon buns after reading this.

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 16/05/2023 22:23

Are the cinnamon buns in the bakery section, or the freezer section? I can’t be trusted with a box of Cinnabon being delivered, they don’t make it to the freezer!

Op. Have t had dreamies (the fake milkyways or the fake bounties) in our local Aldi for the last 8 weeks 😥

Cinnamon buns are in the bakery section along with the chocolate brioche - hands off as both are mine I tell ya!!!
lemon sorbet never gets to the freezer.
the fake cheese ritz are divine and only 99p. Fruit is ok if your are going to use it fairly promptly. All the cheese is gorgeous. I like their ham or chicken off cut packs. Their trifles and yogurts are all cheaper and taste as nice as the branded alternatives.

can anyone tell me more about biscuit tea? Can I add milk?

stclair · 16/05/2023 22:45

Their champagne

SquarePegInRoundHole · 16/05/2023 23:03

Interesting on the cinnamon buns. I largely ignore it because it is not a patch on Lidl's.

Howlongwillthistake · 16/05/2023 23:35

Paprika and black pepper cheese roule
Sea salt crackers
Lemon sole fillets
(But the red Leicester cheese is rank)

Kyse23 · 16/05/2023 23:55

Skin on fries (frozen)
Metro rolls (subway dupes)
Specially selected pizzas
Chocolate protein mousse
Lemon curd yoghurt (glass jar)
Moser roth chocolate
Pretzel chocolate

Oh, their marmite is better than marmite. It tastes the same but spreads better.

Wait what? You may have solved my unspreadable Marmite problem!

4catsaremylife · 17/05/2023 02:17

I love Aldi, I can get GF chicken tenders and nuggets for a quick Caesar salad, my ASD DC loves the Metro rolls but sadly they've been out of stock for ages. Treated myself to some wonderful vine tomatoes today that I really enjoyed, and the farmhouse yoghurt is divine

I'm not an Aldi shopper, my husband loves it in there but I hate it. But they have really nice cinnamon buns, 2 in a pack absolutely delicious 😋

There really are, warm them up in the microwave and they are second level.

They are in the bakery section, in a twin pack, yellow packaging and cellophane wrapped. By two packs, they go in no time here!

I know, total game changer at half the price. No more ripping your toast up!

Papergirl1968 · 17/05/2023 11:12

Their fake Pringles. Stackers or Snackrite or something. Pringles just taste salty and cardboard-like to me now. Their Moster Roth chocolate is good too.

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 16/05/2023 18:41

I have shopped in Aldi many times, but not for about 6 months. It just takes two buses to get there, I was wondering if they had any new things I should try while I am buying those new tea bags!

I really wish they did a delivery service because I can't drive at the moment due to a medical condition, and I can't carry much on the bus. P!us the bus service to our local one is rubbish.

pillsthrillsandbellyache · 17/05/2023 11:53

The metro rolls are worth the trip alone. Bloody gorgeous. Also the kebab wraps. So nice.

OnedayIwillfeelfree · 17/05/2023 19:14

Thanks everyone, I am so looking forward to trying the Cinnamon buns! And the pate, and the Pringles, and the cheese hash browns, and the duck etc etc!

Laundry detergent
dishwasher pods
washing up liquid

Boring I know, but really good!

Chocolate
Cured meats & cheeses
Greek yoghurt
Peanut bitter
Mixed nuts- so much cheaper than anywhere else

Some of the toiletries and skincare range are excellent. I love the Caviar night cream.
