Tempted by the new flavoured teas Aldi are now stocking (Jaffa cake being one!) I am going to go out of my way and do my shopping there on Friday. Are there any goodies people can recommend? What are your favourites there?

Their pink grapefruit gin! And their tonic is less sweet than Schweppes, and tastes far better. Their pina colada non alcoholic soft drink is lovely. The veg are always good, buy regularly and they don't go off! And their frozen fish and frozen green beans and broccoli are also excellent value and not at all mushy when cooked.

TheBeesUnwashedKnees · 16/05/2023 19:09

Their version of Mars Bars (Titan) and Snickers (Racer) and their fruit and nut chocolate.

Their sticky toffee pudding is the best I’ve ever had.

Tubs of pate.

I second the pate and cheeses and wines too.

mastertomsmum · 16/05/2023 19:11

Anything chocolate, yogurt based or salami/cooked meats

Sugarcube84 · 16/05/2023 19:15

Beans
mayo
the skincare(hot cloth cleanser, serum and moisturisers plus shampoos shower gels etc are great)
suncream, never burned with it
candles
Spanish chicken and patatas bravas ready meal
pate
The posh jams with the black lids
cooked meats and chicken
protein mousse
the big thin naans that are with the bread
chicken pasties
chicken thigh burgers
8 cheese pizza

loads of stuff, the only thing I don’t buy is spreadable butter as I like country life but I use their packs of butter for cooking and in veg

Sugarcube84 · 16/05/2023 19:15

Orange hi juice

Justgivemesomepeace · 16/05/2023 19:15

Their version of Mars icecreams are good. Also like their champagne truffles. Wine always good if you buy the decent stuff.

Slushynana · 16/05/2023 19:27

There nuts, walnuts, pecans, cashews etc are lovely and so much cheaper than other places

tiredhadenough · 16/05/2023 19:34

QuintanaRoo · 16/05/2023 18:32

Oh, their marmite is better than marmite. It tastes the same but spreads better.

Yes I agree. Have stopped buying real marmite due to cost. Got an Aldi one and liked it, made a mistake of getting a Tesco one 🤮

Breathmiller · 16/05/2023 19:36

I can second the seeds and nuts - affordable pine nuts! I never buy pine nuts.
Colombian instant coffee.
Oat milk.
I also love a quinoa oat bar with orange and chocolate that they have at the tills.

Kablea · 16/05/2023 19:39

Farmhouse pate with mushrooms
Spicy chorizo - so much cheaper than anywhere else
Sourdough part baked baguettes
Buffalo mozzerella
Grand padano and Parmesan
Manchego
Nappies
Cheap fruit and vegetables
Aged ribeye steak - best supermarket steak by far
White Rioja and Albariño
Gin
Nocella olives

fruitpastille · 16/05/2023 19:39

Prices are good but I don't think aldi food is better than elsewhere. Most supermarket spreadable butter has the exact same ingredients as lurpack if you check the label but norpack is a bit cheaper. I like being able to buy basic ingredients at a good price, especially the dairy stuff and the nuts/seeds.

Kablea · 16/05/2023 19:43

Oh and proper Greek yoghurt!
West country butter with sea salt crystals

Don’t buy the milk chocolate with pretzels in. I don’t even like milk chocolate, but I can munch a whole block in a day - dangerous!!

ThreeRingCircus · 16/05/2023 19:43

The cheesy hash browns are absolutely incredible.

Any of the deli meats, cheese or chocolate.

Nutty granola.

All of the bread/bakery items. Their brioche buns and the flatbreads in particular.

Quirrelsotherface · 16/05/2023 20:07

I go to aldi every week, maybe my local one is different but it's just a normal shop, it doesn't have special stuff that you can't get in other places. Do some of them have different stock to other
If you live in my area totally dont make a special trip, you'd be hugely disappointed if you were expecting anything other than a slightly down market not very well laid out shop full of regular foodstuffs 😀

bet you're fun at parties!

The salmon wellington and the chocolate cheesecake from the freezer section. Seafood sticks and king prawns. Large cookie and boxed fries from their fakeaway pizza range. Coffee pods are lush. Rocky road tubs, best I've ever tasted!
