Naice summer holiday

How much would you say one cost? Not all out luxury 21 cruise but say your naice 4/5star hotel, flights etc for a week? And your fam size of course

reason for asking, doing a week 5 star all inc, flights and transfers £2.2k, 2 adults 2 kids (just before end of school, not compulsory Ed yet). DM is saying we vastly overpaid… but I shopped around quite a bit and it seemed quite a decent deal. She does this a bit it’s like she’s forgotten a) cost of living b) inflation and c) it’s not the 90s anymore

12K for family of 5 in mid July. It's eye watering and feels like a big treat but we know we will have an amazing time.

So that’s out of term time here, where abouts are you going? X

5* all inclusive or £2.2k is amazing! What planet is your mum on that’s less than £600 each. I think that’s a bargain.

lunaloveroo · 14/05/2023 18:42

That's a good price. We paid 2.2k for 2 adults and 1 child in July 4 * AL in turkey. Also with TUI.

gogohmm · 14/05/2023 18:44

We paid £2k for 2 people half board, 10 days 4* not school holidays. Was a bit specialist so probably £2-300 more than a standard break there.

Your deal is very good

Wishimaywishimight · 14/05/2023 18:45

5 star all inclusive for a little over £500 per head? That's incredibly cheap!

Our children have finished school by then. We're doing ikos

gogohmm · 14/05/2023 18:46

Our dream is to quit work, pack up the motorbike with a weeks worth of clothes and camping gear, book the eurotunnel and head east, aiming for Australia. It's about 4 years off, saving hard to retire Grin

My mum is like this. We delight in telling her the cost of things. We don't go to her to confirm we got a good deal on something. I think it's partly that she lived an extremely frugal life for decades due to not having much money.

lionsleepstonight · 14/05/2023 19:11

Pre covid I could get 4/5 star in school holidays for £750 pp, now the same is £1,150 minimum.

I think £500pp sounds fantastic!

Wisenotboring · 14/05/2023 19:15

@Yumyumcakes no! They are a range of AI resorts in Spain and Greece.

TheChosenTwo · 14/05/2023 19:22

We pay between 6-8K for a villa for the 5 of us. This would be for a 2 week august holiday.
Flights, car hire and spending money on top.
I think your mum is way out of touch to be honest!

Sorry to hijack but please can you share what's so fab about Ikos resorts @grass321 @Roselilly36 I've got FOMO!

JenniferBarkley · 14/05/2023 19:29

That's a great price. We're paying £3.4k for a week in Menorca this month - two adults, two kids, all inclusive, 4 star.

I know what you mean about fomo...! Everything is a really high standard. Great customer service before you arrive, taken to a sofa with a glass of champagne to check in, WhatsApp concierge service.

7 restaurants, I think over 500 wines to choose from, free Tesla for a day, 5 pools. Lying on sunbeds while you're plied with endless drinks and your sunglasses are cleaned (I gave in and embraced it after day two). Nothing is too much trouble. Everything is included so no added costs at the end of the stay.

Downsides were that our bedroom looked better in the photos (in fairness they moved us) and the beach in the Spanish one wasn't very nice (which we knew before we went). Also you're starting to get into Maldives type budget for some resorts some weeks.

But now I've been, I'd find it hard to beat for a European AI (although I gather Sani is nice).

That is v cheap but shows the difference between late July/August and earlier in the year. Our flights to turkey in August are around £2k. I would guess your break would be double the price a month later.

About 3.5k late July, so another 1k but not too too crazy x

That's a bargain.

We booked a 4* family appartment in Majorca in January 2020 and even with a sale price for one week in August we paid over £3000.

Last year, 4* Rhodes (two bedrooms) were £7k for 3 people for 2 weeks.
