I like Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and The Tiger that Came to Tea by Judith Kerr.

What is your favourite. I'm also looking for some slightly quirky ones or less well known ones.

So so many but my absolute favourite is Bog Baby by Jeanne Willis and illustrated by Gwen Millward.
It is honestly the loveliest book with stunning illustrations- everyone should read it.

Anything by Anthony Browne, especially Gorilla and Voices in the Park. I defy you to not have a tear in your eye when you see the picture of the chimpanzee in his cage.

Brown bear brown bear what do you see. I don't find it particularly exciting to read in itself but my kids did and they LOVED the pictures. So, that was lovely for me, too.

Animalia by Graeme Base.

It's an alliterative alphabet book e.g. Lazy lions lounging in the library.

The pictures are amazingly detailed and everything on the page begins with the relevant letter
