I like Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and The Tiger that Came to Tea by Judith Kerr.

What is your favourite. I'm also looking for some slightly quirky ones or less well known ones.

Albert Le Blanc by Nick Butterworth is great. You can have fun spotting all the children's characters.

For a charming, heartwarming story and beautiful illustrations you can't beat The Bear and the Piano by David Litchfield.

It was a dark and stormy night by the Ahlbergs.
I picked it up the other day at work and couldn’t put it down.

Do NOT turn the page pllleeeeaaasseeeeee

birdglasspen · 10/05/2023 21:34

The Storm Whale and his other books. Korky Paul picture books are good, Winnie the Witch, etc they have different authors but same illustrator and once you have a few you’ll start spotting characters from other stories hiding in background! It he day Louis got eaten and Manfred the Baddie are good. You may have to buy second hand.

'Can't you sleep, Little Bear?' by Jackie Morris. I could live in this book, I sometimes imagine a massive fantasy epic novel set in this world. I wish I could write it but I sadly I lack the necessary talent.

'I took the Moon for a walk' by Alison Jay. 'Where the Wild things are'
'The Toymaker' Martin Waddel

Goodnight, Goodnight by Eve Rice. This is a fairly obscure from my childhood (80s), I read my copy to my DC now. The illustrations are beautiful and it's a wonderful cosy, calm bedtime story.
