I like Monkey Puzzle by Julia Donaldson and The Tiger that Came to Tea by Judith Kerr.

What is your favourite. I'm also looking for some slightly quirky ones or less well known ones.

@MuffinToSeeHere I was about to recommend the book with no pictures too, my kids love it.

Chris Haughton books are great - Shhh, we have a plan! And Oh no George are both good for getting kids to guess what will happen next.

My little boy loves the giant jam sandwich, superworm, and the smeds and the smoos.

I also like:
hippos go beserk
all the oi frog books
penguin in peril
Moles star
Z is for moose

I was unsure to recommend as the OP technically asked for picture books but it's such a great book and I bloody love sharing it with the children I teach as it's one they have normally never come across. I'm glad to hear your DC love it as much as I do, it's such an underrated book.

Penguin In Peril by Helen Hancocks is fab.

Anything by Lauren Child, her version of The Princess and the Pea is gorgeous.

Poo In The Zoo went down very well with Gdcs.
It’s in verse, and (unlike some) the lines do actually scan.
